Unfortunately, the timing of the southerly change expected early Saturday is not favourable for Victorian surfers.
Thursday’s size is contingent on whatever appears overnight, as the pulse expected later today was/is expected to be the start of an initially modest new groundswell that would precede a bigger swell for Friday ahead of a peak on Saturday.
A strong conveyor belt of fronts through the Southern Ocean - initially unfavourable aligned through our swell window - will generate a series of groundswells that will overlap through the latter part of the week ahead of a peak in size over the weekend.
No major changes to the weekend forecast, with a reinforcing W/SW swell expected to push through overnight tonight.
Today’s strong groundswell is expected to peak overnight or early Thursday morning before easing slowly through Thursday.

Following a generally small weekend, next week is much more active with plenty of westerly swell inbound.
The coming outlook will be best suited to exposed breaks over the coming days before the attention swings to the Surf Coast next week.
