Cyrus Sutton is always well-prepped for a road trip. The young Californian surfer, who has his fingers in many creative pies, has a tricked up Ford Econovan and ain't afraid of all-nighters crossing state or national borders.

During a recent run of surf he packed the chariot with assorted equipment - noserider, log, quad - and swung it north on PCH. A long interval swell was pinwheeling around the protected points and barraging the banks on the exposed coast.
