Jack McCoy's Australian Surf Film Fest
In the twelve months prior to his passing away, Jack McCoy had been busy working behind the scenes to create a legacy piece for the global surf community - The Jack McCoy Australian Surf Film Fest.
The inaugural festival will take place in Sydney, the birthplace of Australian surfing, and then expand both nationally and internationally in 2026.
Jack's aim for the festival was for it to become the most prestigious surf film festival in the world with a very simple strategy – showcase the greatest surf films of all time!
The curated lineup will honour each era of surf filmmaking - from the founding fathers, right through to modern day classics. The festival will also feature a tribute to McCoy, as well as a special Hall of Fame induction ceremony paying homage to the greats of the industry.
“Dad wanted to ensure he left behind a platform to celebrate and unite the industry, whilst reinvigorating surf culture around the world. As he always said, surf films are made to be seen on the big screen!” says Indiana Campbell, McCoy’s daughter
“Throughout his career his main objective was to share the spirit of aloha by gathering the surf tribe to share the stoke. He wanted the festival to inspire each generation to come together, talk story and celebrate the art of surfing.”
Prior to passing, McCoy had shortlisted his top 20 surf films of all time so we can’t wait to see what he has scheduled for this year’s festival and years to come.
Tickets are now on sale, however you can register for pre-sale tickets and to go into the draw to win an A1 framed print from Jack’s personal collection via this link.
