How to get to Indonesia this year (2020).
That was good Stu, will never forget the grab rail drop at No Kandui
Shit, he gets barrelled a lot aye!
If you are missing Indo watching this won’t help, or it might….. who knows at this point.
Also check out the crocs in the Macaronis area
https://m.
Something about that guys surfing really frustrated me
His shitty twin fin.
Just had first hand report from Javanese friend who lives in East Java . Said 70% of people are passing away after they have had the vaccine.
What vaccine, the Chinese Sinovac?
Wow that's crazy..i managed Maccas resort for a season in 2008 locals said there was still crocs and we always told the guest that, but i never saw one the whole time or any reports of anyone seeing one, and i use to go through those maze of mangroves and up river to Silabu village all the time.
Great fishing in the area though especially around Silabu island, use to get a few with guest and also use to sneak off with a little tinny and go fishing in the late arvo with Mark the owner, both of us never wanted to be the one to say maybe its time to go back so we would often go back in the dark or when the tide was too low and have to drag the boat through the mangroves, rarely came home with nothing though, mostly Spanish mackerel (tengirri) GT's, Coronation & Coral trout and the odd huge barracuda (didn't eat those though)
doesn't look like Maccas resort in the vid.
is there a homestay there Indo?

Highly doubt there is any truth in this, over 10% of the country has now been vaccinated total population is about 270 million, so about 27 million had the jab, pretty much all i believe have got the Chinese one, if it was true millions of people would be dead.
I know quite a few Indonesians that have had the jab and no deaths or rumours of deaths.
My wife has lost two uncles to covid though and half a dozen people died in her families neighbourhood of covid, pretty much all old.

I havent heard of one but i havent been back since then, and the tsunami changed the landscape dramatically so the background looks foreign to me now, but im guessing that is the staff quarters/kitchen area way out the back with a jetty to bring in supplies etc.
They always had an area a few hundred metres out the back where most of the staff stay and hang, and a workshop, and generators etc not far away.
Unless that girl is one of their partners she would have to be a resort worker, her english is too good otherwise.
Edit: watching the vid again, that said the background looks like its way to big expanse of water to be in the lagoon near resort, looks more like the bay around Silabu island, maybe there is a place there?...she doesn't look local though her face looks more like Padang (minang) or even Javanesse.
@indo , getting alot of reports from friends in klungkung, lembongan and my wife’s village in the mountains near kubu . Sadly alot of elderly are dying , some fully vaccinated some not with the sinovac vaccine. The most bizarre thing was a close friends mother who was 83 when admitted to hospital with diarrhoea, family was allowed to come in and visit just wearing a mask , the staff had all the PPE for covid patients. After she was confirmed as positive for covid they tested family, one member was fully vaccinated and tested positive so they moved him to a quarantine centre in Denpasar. The family being allowed in with just a mask surprised me . They also have to do Two cremations. One from government one for religious ceremony.
A mate of mine living in Jakarta has lost a number of relatives. he was one on my sponsors for my first 6 month trip to indo. He hasnt lost any to vaccines only covid not sure which varient but he is pro vaccine.
When i ran out of money in jakarta waiting for my $4000 tax return he gave me a very large bag of weed for free to sell on jalan jaksa to tourists missing weed. i could be in jail for that rotting away in jakarta for ten years but it was pretty easy to stay under the radar. I also could be in jail for going to stadium nightclub and trying out their extremely strong extacy pills. a mate of mine loved them so much he brought home to Hawaii a 100 pingers. never saw him again so i hope he made it through customs.

me too. i think it is a combination of:
* the difficulty many local Indonesians are facing due to the underlying poverty and impact of COVID, as underlined in the comments above
* those of us for which Indo is an idyllic travel escape of great waves and beautiful people, it is nothing more than a dream right now
* his carry on throughout the video
also his legs are too short and his back too long
Pretty sure Occy’s body shape and surf style takes that argument behind the shed.
this bloke's bum is blocking the energy flow. occy had a couple of extra root chakras in his thighs.
Sea slug -not sure which one waiting on details . Either Sinovac I imagine or AstraZeneca.
Indo dreaming- yeah it certainly gets confusing with so many different reports ! Don’t think he would lie about it but yeah maybe it is different in certain areas . It’s not looking great for them either way
Everyone at my office has had Covid, none of them reported it which seems to be the norm (this is in Bali) so numbers are dramatically underreported. Everyone has had a family member pass away, and outbreaks happen regularly. All of them have been vaccinated without complication. In the areas we work with in NTT, there's been people dying in every village from Covid, usually brought in after men have come back from working in palm oil plantations while infected. All of this compounded by cyclones earlier in the year that wiped out entire crops. It's still an absolute disaster, so it's wild to see so many foreign surf resorts still facilitating "business visas" for people to dance about the country on holiday with a GoPro in their mouth.

Im not suggesting he is lying, im sure he believes it, but i highly doubt its reality, im betting the deaths were Covid, the picture Dan paints above is exactly what im hearing.
Indonesians are absolutely terrible when it comes to believing anything by world of mouth or conspiracy type things or just misinformation in general, its a totally different level to what we see in Australia.
I mean even Jokowi at the start of the pandemic was suggesting Jamu a traditional herbal drink as a cure for Covid, so its something we see at all levels in Indonesia.
Might have to start a how to get to Australia thread https://seminyaktimes.com/not-all-as-it-seems-on-the-repatriation-flight/
Re the Vid I posted,
for context he’s a reasonably well known fisherman probably best known for epic hikes to remote ledges to chase GTs.
He’s been in Indo since the start of pandemic getting stuck at Katiet during first lockdown.
Since then island hopping to remote locations to fish primarily catch and release.
Everyman surfer skill very occasionally shown in vids , fishing, and Indo life and making vids to support the lifestyle…..
a surfer making the best of a bad situation to live the dream.
He can be annoying but he seems like a good bloke and he’s a fucken great fisherman if you like that kinda thing.
Opinions we all got em.
Fuck I miss fun Indonesian waves, tropical fishing, and watching an epic sunset with a beer in hand at the end of a day filled with the former.
I'm sorry I said his legs are too short and his bum blocks his energy flow. I miss Indonesia too and would be happy to hang out and go surfing with him.
@lucky-al , any idea where megzee has disappeared too ? Haven’t seen him post anything for some time now .
He looked good in the barrel, not so much on the face or in turns.
Though I’m sure my surfing would upset lots people if someone was dumb enough to film me.
no, sorry, i haven't had any communication with him other than on here. i hope he can get out on the water and go fishing where he is. the lockdowns in vietnam are getting tight.
Ok thanks for replying , maybe internet issues, hope he’s all good .
Magzee is a good egg even though I don't know him besides on here
Agree Indo-Dreaming. I worked in a professional capacity in Jakarta for a few years and some of the stuff that was believed was absolutely astounding.
The agriculture minister at one stage claimed that coronavirus can be ‘killed’ with eucalyptus necklace.
Aromatherapy aid can wipe out 42 per cent of the virus if worn for 15 minutes, or up to 80 per cent if used for half an hour.
The "magic stone" incident from JIS (jakarta international school) is a prime example
Speaking to a mate this morning who’s semi retired living in sanur . He’s given up on getting a flight back to perth and pulled $50,000 from his super to keep him going for next 2-3 years. There in lockdown but it’s pretty well business as usual, barricading at entrance to beach which everyone just walks around . Warungs and restaurants open , bakso carts up and down the streets. People living hand to mouth have no choice. He doesn’t surf but enjoys his fishing . Grows vegetables where he leases a house from locals. Morale is very low.
Swellnetters,
There must be some way to get to Indonesia this year? Can you jump on a boat from Darwin? Can you fly there on the pretense of something other than surfing? Gotta be something...
