There must be some way to get to Indonesia this year? Can you jump on a boat from Darwin? Can you fly there on the pretense of something other than surfing? Gotta be something...
"North Sumatra to restrict access to Nias Island following surge in COVID-19 cases"
The North Sumatra administration is planning to postpone all air and sea travel to and from Nias Island, closing down the famous tourist destination in the province following a recent surge in COVID-19 cases.
North Sumatra Governor Edy Rahmayadi conveyed the plan during Monday’s meeting with the North Sumatra Legislative Council (DPRD), adding that he would ask the Transportation Ministry to suspend all flights to the island as early as Thursday. “The coronavirus was carried there by visitors to the island,” Edy said in a statement on Monday.
“A month ago, there were no suspected COVID-19 cases on the island. Now, 90 people have tested positive.”
This guy surfs O.C how I dream of surfing it.
Stu or Craig maybe you could edit this so the image comes up instead of just the link?
Cavy fishing youtube has not had a worry.
Today the Bukit is on again....Large
fuck what a season !
Does anyone else think that the huge reduction in CO2 in the atmosphere due to COVID has changed some global weather patterns. This winter on the East Coast of Oz, Indo and Jordy posted on Instagram about South Africa being of the chain. Just a thought.
I was in indo last year for 6 weeks June July and it didn’t get under 4ft (Overhead )

Cool never seen this guys videos https://www.youtube.com/c/CavyFishing/featured
looks like he is at HT's.
Interesting videos as you don't see many videos on guys fishing in Indo outside of Bali especially outer Sumatran Islands especially guys that know what they are doing, most westerners/surf camps/resorts there just mostly trawl lures and locals although catch heaps of fish are also limited in there fishing techniques as just use hand lines
Ive really wanted to get a fish finder/GPS over there and start doing some serious bottom fishing and jigging with decent sized jigs etc
As this video shows IMHO there is a lot of untapped potential
His other videos in the area are also cool even the novelty stuff in fresh water ponds etc
Bruno Santos again...
What a time to be in Indo. Fkn hell.https://www.instagram.com/tv/CFYJpsfBhOt/?igshid=1fw8fi7g23pxj
That was really good surfing.
How was that last wave.. that incoming wedge section.. drool!
He’s had more tubes the last few months than I’ll get during my whole life!
What a season to be locked out hey? Been getting some okay waves at home but nothing really compares to the quality of surfing experience in Indonesia. Rarely a session goes by without multiple scenes of absolute perfection. Case in point, check out this at HTs in August.
Wow DDD, how good did that look!
Looks unreal. Those big roll ins... always wanted to have a day like that so I could find myself locked into a barrel bigger than I'd throw myself into if it was straight ledging.
Fark... "Indonesia recorded 4,176 new coronavirus cases on Monday, a new daily record spike that brought the total number of infections nationwide to 248,852 so far.
Cheers Shoredump interesting read.
You would need a few spare boards. John McGroeder snapped his third board in a couple of weeks on that roll in
Indonesia is set to use a vaccine in the 3rd week of December this year . It’s been developed between China and Indonesia and has 3 stage testing so far , stage 4 will be tested in current hotspots in Java pending approval from food and drug administration. For story google seminyak times.
A vaccine developed by Indonesia in partnership with China.
Wow...........I'd love to 1st in line to test that! What could possibly go wrong?
My thoughts exactly ringmaster , indonesia must be desperate to open up , tourists dollar that fed Bali also fed the generals who own many 5 star hotels around nusa dua , 9 million guinea pigs , hope it works .
This could be bad news for Australians.
I think it was TBB that alluded to countries and their covid ratings. Id imagine our strict departure rules would mean that next year, one by one, as foreign countries get on top of covid with their vaccines, travel is allowed there and back without quarantining, based on their covid rating. So if Indo does go down a rushed path and invest a lot of time and money, but it doesn’t work quite as well as hoped, then that could hamper their covid rating come Autumn/Winter (in Australia’s border control eyes)
Americans and Europeans will get another quiet season, but at least we can go to Byron Bay again :(
Anyway, that’s probably a racist point of view. Good luck to them, hope they nail it
