Tom Carroll asks for your support

My first real experience with SurfAid was nearly 10 years ago after the Boxing Day tsunami in December 2004. It was one of the most extraordinary experiences of my life. I had never seen that ability for humans to come together and be so efficient and offer up their expertise. SurfAid was able to get into really remote areas where other aid organisations couldn't because of their knowledge of the ocean and coastal areas.

SurfAid's capabilities were extraordinary and that was a big eye-opener for me. And that's why I was drawn into being a SurfAid ambassador from the start.

Please have a look at my short video clip here and consider helping SurfAid by making a donation. It will make a real difference to the health of island communities.

Thank you
Tom Carroll

NO- instead lets have every filthy rich surf charter boat operator donate $10 per each passenger on every boat trip. How many boats does Martin Daly run ? 3 ?

Tommy how about a surf etiquette vid.

That's pretty rough Udo. Unlike bullshit charities that promise and don't deliver, maybe focus on them. People give a lot to charities that get sucked up with administration fees. As a surfer you couldn't put your money in a more rewarding organization.

I remember paying $50 a charter towards Surf Aid in the early days. If it wasn't actually compulsory SurfTravel certainly gave it a huge push. I don't remember anyone refusing and mick absolutely agree Surf Aid probably has less overhead and a greater impact per donated dollar than any other. I am amazed that anyone thinks it is OK to go to those places and not offer some support to the local communities.

I hope Tom as an ambassador also gave cash as well as his time. I know Kelly who is also an ambassador for Surfaid doshes up wuth a cheque every year. It would be be nice if Kelly also gets out and spreads the word as TC has done here.

I'm not sure what you expect TC to do for you though Welly. At least he could relate his experience in the Ments when they were discovering it and,the changes. If there is any criticism probably some more content would be good....what the programmes do etc. But you can get that with the website and the annual reports. Surfaid is now officially sanctioned by the Australian government and is the only Australian/NZ Humanitarian organization to do so.

Carn Welly, bit harsh. So you've got a gripe against TC, don't let it taint SurfAid who do a wonderful, selfless job. You're a good rugby man, so remember the first rule: play the ball and not the man.

...but then you Kiwis were always dirty bastards*.

Apologies for being harsh Tommy Boy.
I was gobsmacked awhile back when you aired on TV, I suppose if it helped you, that is fine and good.
I think I was tainted watching yourself surf around the globe and thinking to myself he's probably on the gear.

I will play the ball, like the ref said and will take my time out to look into SurfAid :)

Funny Stu, when I played Rugby, that was the difference, we played the man with our sprigs, especially when he was on the ball. Fair game then, rules have changed now :)

Haha Stu,

You were probably referring to this man. Richard Loe. Though it makes his hits look pretty average compared to last nights niggle in the State of Origin.
