This week and next week (Apr 21-May2)

Central QLD: A little bit of action by the weekend

Very occ. set on Sun morning

We’ve got a more subdued synoptic outlook this week with weak high pressure currently in the Tasman and a complex troughy area of low pressure situated off the Southern NSW/Gippsland coast. That trough moves NE, backed by a large high pressure centre currently in the Bight.

Not much in the way of swell generating wind in the Coral Sea short term so expect tiny/flat conditions for most of the week. Eventually the high pressure cell builds a tradewind fetch in the Coral Sea, likely by Fri, with surf building to rideable levels on Sat and likely extending into Sun.

Just enough to generate rideable surf Sat/Sun

Tradewinds then break down as low pressure occupies the tasman early next week so expect surf to ease again into early next week.

We’ll see how it looks further on, on Wed.
