Started to watch, couldn't get 30 in before it put me to sleep. Watched some highlights this morning- very underwhelming.

It wasn't too bad for free sport. Better than the fucken tennis! I fell asleep too but more so because of time difference. Nice just watching decent waves rolling through with the odd bomb ridden.

I thought it was so much more entertaining as a paddle-in comp. watching 'em tow bumpy mid-size Nazare was boring as batshit.

There was no danger, no drama, no excitement- strip a big wave competition of those elements and there ain't much left.

Still better than watching a ball go back and forth over a net. Just looking ahead, the 5/6 of Feb looking good for giant clean Pipe. Wonder if woz will run in that though.

I saw the highlights this morning too - agree that it looked underwhelming.
Also, the way the highlights package was cut together was strange. No complete rides, cutting between different times of the day, etc. It was like non-surfers were in charge of the edit.
