Western Australia Surf Forecast by Craig Brokensha (issued Friday 11th December)

Best Days: Monday morning swell magnets in the South West, Thursday morning

Recap

Clean easing 3-4ft waves across the South West yesterday morning before winds swung back onshore mid-morning. Further north the surf was also clean but tiny.

Today a fun kick in SW swell has been seen across the South West to an inconsistent 4-5ft at swell magnets with favourable offshore winds. Further north the swell was too small to make an impact with tiny clean 0.5-1ft sets.

This weekend and next week (Dec 12 - 18)

Today's swell is due to ease into tomorrow across the South West with average S/SE tending S/SW winds, lingering into Sunday from the SW with small average surf in the 2-3ft range.

A slight kick in new SW swell is due into the afternoon, with a secondary W/SW swell Monday morning but only to 3ft or so around Margs, tiny in Perth.

Cleaner conditions are due into Monday morning with a light E/SE offshore ahead of afternoon sea breezes.

Clean conditions are due again into Tuesday but with no decent size, even in the South West.

Into Wednesday a small pulse of SW swell is due of a small fetch of pre-frontal W/NW gales through the Indian Ocean over the coming days.

Only a slight increase to 3-4ft+ is due through the day across the South West, 1ft in Perth as winds tend back to the S/SE to S/SW.

Some better and more consistent SW swell is due from a better and more pro-longed fetch of W/SW gales on the backside of the low proper as it moves slowly towards us.

This swell should build through Thursday to 5-6ft later in the day ahead of a secondary pulse Friday morning holding around a similar 5-6ft (1-2ft in Perth). Conditions are looking clean Thursday morning as the swell builds, likely from 3-5ft, while Friday may unfortunately see SW winds. We'll have a closer look at this on Monday though, and in the meantime, have a great weekend!
