Fun week ahead, slower next week

Nias, Mentawai, South Sumatra forecast by Craig Brokensha (issued Tuesday 14th June)

Best Days: Exposed breaks over the coming period (more protected spots Saturday out of the wind)

This week and next (Jun 1 - 10)

After a slow couple of days, we've got some good fun S/SW groundswell pulses on the cards this week with a larger kick late week.

Tomorrow a new S/SW groundswell should provide fun 4-5ft+ waves across exposed breaks, easing back slowly into Thursday.

During Friday though a long-period and strong S/SW groundswell should build, generated by a strong but distant storm under South Africa last week.

This swell should kick later Thursday with the groundswell proper filling in Friday, building to an inconsistent but good 5-6ft+ across swell magnets.

A drop in size is then due slowly through the weekend, but this will be slowed by some new S/SW groundswell Sunday from an intense and stalling mid-latitude low in the southern Indian Ocean over the coming days.

This low will be better aimed for the Seychelles and Maldives initially before a fetch of S/SE gales tend more S/SW while easing later this week.

A moderate S/SW groundswell is due, keeping sets around 4-6ft all day Sunday at exposed breaks ahead of a more noticeable downwards trend through the start of next week.

Winds over the coming period will be favourable and variable until Saturday when a fresher NW'ly develops, tending more variable into Sunday again.

Into the rest of next week there's nothing significant at all on the cards with some small to moderate refracted S'ly swell on the cards late week/weekend, but more on this Thursday.
