I keep hearing 'diverse crowd' 'diverse crowd' 'diverse crowd'.... with no clear agenda... etc...

it's basically like the literal opposite of identity politics... which is probably what terrifies the left so much... hence the desperation to discredit the movement...

but it clearly is a movement, in the traditional sense of the term... a group of people who feel strongly about something, and come together, traditionally... organically...

which again, is basically the oppisite of the contrived contemporary left...

"Consensus seems to be that it’s another manifestation of disillusionment with government and the seeds have been planted for quite a long term run."

not just seeds... active rearing it would seem...

I think the one unifyiing factor is bullshit

people are so bloody tired of the bullshit. in this decades long age of spin, 'weasal words', and professional PR... both sides of politics have gone hard down the propaganda road... and whilst the internet should just undermine and correct this tendency - as it has - the machine has just gone harder in their attempts to 'control the narrative'...

it's just embarrassing some of the lies both sides of politics now try to pass off, or over, like it's not the case

it's become so perverse, and so pervasive, the whole system has become an exercise in mass public gaslighting

and sadly, I think the left go harder than the right!

"Disillusionment with government is understandable but I just wish these people could think straight.
The natural immunity thing as part of a broader anti-vaccination ideology is fucking embarrassing."

yeh, but I think it has moved well beyond this now, I'd say the 'natural immunity' crowd are like 10 % in your photos... the argument, and movement, has moved well on from there, these guys just got in on ground floor early...

the breadth of views re. the virus amongst these groups is just staggering

but a bit scary too... that there is such different realities amongst so many people with a common interest...

it goes from... the virus is fake ... a conspiracy ...just a cold ...is the flu ..is bat soup ...is an escapee ...is franken virus ...is china's revenge ...is biological weapon ..is population control ...is an elitist cull... etc. etc.

then, somehow... they all come together in the street against a common enemy...

bizarre to say the least

but I think it all comes back to...

the professionalisation and over utilisation of PR... propaganda basically...

the capture and corruption of the media... (which has totally voided their crucial role as the fourth estate)

and a scared weird inept and totally over-reactive political class...

where to from here?

it is exciting... but that division freeride sees is also quite scary...

we need a new internet

a legitinet...

where people, politicians, journalists, scientists etc. must actually face and answer their critics...

this social media silo model is dangerous

Well said Sypkan.
Just for context on my attendance yesterday too, it's the first rally/protest or any kind i've ever attended. Tend to steer clear of such things, both because i've always wondered the effectiveness of them, and because i was a little apprehensive of the kind of crowds that they'd attract.
It was also the first time to attend one for the two girls i went with, both with similar feelings.
After going, and getting a whack of the feeling that surrounded it, i wouldn't hesitate to attend another one for this particular movement/cause/desperation.
You're right. Its anger, discontentment, a feeling of not being heard and a feeling of having no voice to speak for them.
I think Freeride hit the nail on the head with that. There is no political movement, it's the political machine that is in place now that has left no space for an alternative. That's scary for alot of people. No voice over legitimate concerns about their health, wellbeing and financial security.
I'd be loath to ever vote for Pauline hanson, Clive palmer or Craig Kelly. But then who do i vote for as an alternative?? There is none. What i do know, is someone with true compassion and understanding of this current movement, with political savvy could step into this potential space and have a tidal wave of support.

It's not a political movement. It is a mass tantrum. The only beneficiaries of which are political opportunists like Palmer, Kelly, Hanson and Campbell Newman.
They all vote with the LNP in the Senate.
If they knew anything about freedoms they would be marching against the Religious Discrimination Act and Scott's new internet laws.
What are their demands? Take your pick.
Get the vax or don't. Just shut the fuck up. It's gotten very boring.

I think the demands are very straight forward. No Vax mandate & no Vax passports. I don't give a fuck if it makes Clive Palmer more money.
I also think an enquiry into Australias Vax roll out and the corrupt premiers would be important

You’re right, Burleigh. There should be an inquest into the federal government’s mismanagement of the covid pandemic. A few friends and family members who are medical professionals think that the government (and the media) is to blame for much of the cynicism and misinformation about covid and the vaccine, which has led to the situation we are in now where society has become divided.

Interesting though disturbing interview on Bret Weinsien’s the DarkHorse podcast with a young Victorian woman trying to get a vaccine exemption. It appears her attempts are futile even though she clearly needs it to the point where her GP (who is now due to a change in law unable to grant one) will not give her the vax.
Another serious head scratcher when it comes to the way our authorities attempt to keep us “safe”.

I see the anti-vax cookers are at it again.
burleigh is cross posting an instagram post from a wellness warrior who allegedly got pericarditis from the Pfizer jab.
First up she looks pretty bloody healthy in those photos, but a mask and a couple of heart monitors makes her "look sick". Secondly pericarditis is very treatable. Thirdly there's multiple reasons why it happens including Infection, Systemic inflammatory disorders, including lupus and rheumatoid arthritis
Trauma, such as injury to your heart or chest as a result of a motor vehicle or other accident.
So in short she looks healthy, the disease isn't a massive problem, it may be caused by something other than the vaccine and finally SHE'S TALLIED NEARLY $10K ON A GO FUND ME PAGE TO HELP HER RECOVERY.
Did you donate burleigh? Something about fools and their money easily parted.

What happened to Delta?
It tore through India causing hundreds of thousands of death. Broke out in NSW and then spread to Vic and NZ causing multiple infections. Still 1000 new infections a day in Vic, but luckily we are nudging 90% double vaxxed meaning hospital admissions and deaths are quite low but still significant.

The funniest thing about those Sov Cit morons is their absolute confidence in their interpretation of the laws of Australia. They desperately try to get coppers to call them a "living person" thinking it will offer legal protection for whatever stupid thing they are doing.

The real elephant in the room with this current protest movement is we're seeing a sustained and strategic effort to undermine and dismantle things which have helped us for decades/centuries.

Specifically medical science, democratic governments and media.

It fills me with disappointment.

A day or so after a new strain is detected and it's already been dismissed by this crowd as all part of the 'plan'/'new world order'. I even saw memes circulating claiming pfizer will use omircon to get to the 5-11yr olds, by saying its more dangerous to kids....

The crowds are literally celebrating their victory over science/government/media. Theyre looking for a convenient truth - that someone is in control (pfizer/dan Andrews/channel 7 etc.) and all they have to do is spread memes on instagram and march every Saturday yelling about shoving vaccines up arses.

It's straight out safety in numbers....the reassuring feeling that actually covid is not that bad, we can fight the evil and avoid getting vaxxed.

Ignoring the fact that we're creating a future environment where effectively ANY form of pandemic will be hotly contested and denied by many. I often wonder what the cut off point death wise will snuff out protests such as this and anti lockdown. What if it was 5%? 25%? Would we still have these freedom fighters claiming their immune system is unbreakable and big pharma is evil?

Regardless of if you're locked into the 99.98% survival rate idea or not - be careful what you wish for. Complete freedom from acting responsibly for the greater good won't come in handy when we properly get rolled by a global bug. We dodged a bullet with covid in so many ways, and it really still hit hard.

It's brand new and from a conference in Montreal of doctors, physicians speaking out and calling for a proper scientific debate on vaccines within the scientific community. Not to forget, there hasn't actually been one yet, just an absurd justification by the companies producing them that they're all good! And backed by the government!!!!! Scientists are FORCED to tow this line.
When even they are now speaking out, it's hard to argue against why people are speaking up!

One more thing and i'm out for the day, cos sorry, did take up alot of SN's sacred space today, so i do apologize, but this one was important for me.
When i go to bed at night, i go to sleep with the knowledge it's a 50/50 i wake up. If i do wake up, it's a 50/50 i get through that day. Anyone who thinks otherwise is delusional.
If someone told me there was a 99percent (plus)chance i was going to survive each and every day i'd take it and probably roll the dice a bit through the day with some danger knowing the odds were well stacked in my favour.
But i'll take 50/50 regardless. It's safer. Hope is a prison.
