With the Tasman Sea inflamed by these robust S’ly fetches we’ll see strong S’ly swells in the short term, improving in quality as size eases from the proximate fetch and better quality swell trains fill in from below and adjacent to the South Island.
The outlook for the weekend has changed a little with the mid-latitude low moving in quicker and stalling less favourably for us.
With the Tasman Sea inflamed by these robust S’ly fetches we’ll see strong S’ly swells in the short term, improving in quality as size eases from the proximate fetch and better quality swell trains fill in from below and adjacent to the South Island.
Tomorrow will be fun across both regions but into the weekend, a dynamic and multi-staged low will create tricky pulses of swell.
Large groundswell for the coming days, still very active from the weekend and next week.
Tricky conditions through the week with some limited options at certain regions, but we have a good weekend ahead with one pumping day across the whole coast.
The coming days look mostly wind affected, best Thursday with easing levels of swell.

A front moving into the Tasman Tues then interacts with the low, causing a robust deepening of the low and a complex pattern as a trough spins off the low and moves north while a further trough of low pressure forms off to the south.
The energy cranks right up Wed across NENSW, trickling into SEQLD later in the day as strong winds to low end gales develop off the NSW South to Central Coast and into the Tasman and then push northwards around a trough.
