Today’s Forecaster Notes are brought to you by Rip Curl

This weekend and next week (Feb 10 - 16)

No decent swell is due across Mandurah and Perth over the weekend, while the South West will see a lift in S/SW swell through tomorrow, peaking overnight and easing slowly Sunday.

We should see magnets hit 3-4ft later tomorrow, only 1ft+ in Mandurah, before easing from a similar size Sunday morning.

SE winds look to create favourable conditions each morning ahead of S/SW sea breezes.

Our good S/SW groundswell for early next week is still on the cards though winds at the peak of the swell now look average.

A strong polar low has formed in the Heard Island region with a fetch of gale to severe-gale W'ly winds being generated in our swell window.

The low will project east-northeast towards the Bight while slowly weakening, generating a moderate to large S/SW groundswell for us.

The swell should build strongly later Monday, peaking overnight and easing Tuesday.

We should see the South West building to 6ft+ later Monday, and easing from a similar size Tuesday morning.

Mandurah looks to reach 2ft, easing from 2ft+ Tuesday morning, with inconsistent 1-2ft sets around Perth.

Morning offshore E/SE winds are due Monday, tending SW while Tuesday unfortunately looks to see lingering S/SW winds across the region.

A secondary weaker but broader polar front projecting up towards us early next week should generate some reinforcing S/SW swell for Wednesday to 4-5ft across the South West, tiny to the north.

Winds should hopefully swing back offshore out of the E/SE creating good conditions with similar winds and smaller surf to end the week.

Longer term there's nothing too major on the cards besides a W/SW swell the following week, but more on this Monday. Have a great weekend!
