Southern Tasmania Surf Forecast by Craig Brokensha (issued Monday 20th January)

Best Days: No surf days until next week

Recap

Poor and onshore waves Saturday, cleaner yesterday with 1-2ft sets out of the south. Today the surf is tiny and average.

This week and weekend (Jan 21 – 26)

The coming days aren't looking too flash with a tiny and weak S/SE swell for tomorrow and Wednesday. Conditions will be poor tomorrow with a S/SW tending S/SE breeze, better Wednesday with a N/NE offshore but tiny.

As touched on last week a mid-latitude low pushing through the Bight will be too far north to generate any decent size for us, with tiny amounts of mid-period W'ly swell due all weekend.

Into next week though, a broader but distant polar low forming south of WA will direct various fetches of strong to gale-force W/SW winds in our western swell window.

This is tricky to forecast at the moment, but we should see small and varying pulses of W/SW swell for most of next week, at this stage coming in mostly around 2ft. We'll have a closer look at this on Wednesday though.
