Jack McCoy Paddle Out This Saturday

The global surf community will gather for a day of celebration at Palm Beach, Sydney, Australia this Saturday, July 5th, to honour the extraordinary life of  legendary surf filmmaker Jack McCoy.

The event will feature the first ever live broadcast of a paddle out ceremony, complete with a half hour pre ceremony talk story featuring Nick Carroll, Mark Occhilupo and Laura Enever. The hosts will be joined by special guests to honour McCoy’s life and continued legacy of innovation - this time, from above.

Seven-time World Champion, Layne Beachley AO, and two-time world champion Tom Carroll will be leading the ceremony, with thousands travelling from across the globe to come together and pay tribute to the ambassador of aloha and surf culture.

“The response from the surfing community has been like nothing I’ve seen before. Jack was a force of nature and it’s a true testament to the amount of people he had a major connection with throughout his extraordinary life. One of his favourite sayings was ‘give and expect nothing in return’. Now it’s all coming back!” Says Carroll.

Following the procession, the family has invited everyone to join them at Mona Vale Hotel for the celebration. A star studded line up will come together in tribute to McCoy and his passion for music.

A selection of McCoy’s most iconic films will also be playing on the big screen to cap off a night not the be missed.

The celebration is in support of Surfrider, Surfers for Climate and the new Jack McCoy Aloha Foundation – formed to preserve and develop McCoy’s archive, support upcoming film makers, and assist in the fight against the environmental crisis – ensuring McCoy’s legacy lives on for generations to come.

“The response since Dad’s passing has been beyond anything we could have imagined. We’re deeply grateful to everyone who has wrapped their arms around us - sending love, light, and aloha," says daughter Indiana Campbell.

"It was Dad’s wish that we carry forward his legacy by bringing together every generation of the surfing tribe to ‘talk story’, to inspire future generations to pick up a camera, to ride a wave, and to protect the planet." says Campbell

Mark it down, spread the word and get your favourite aloha shirt pressed. This will be one for the ages.
