In between, a trough and cold front are currently approaching Tasmania, expected to bring a vigorous W/SW-SW flow o/night into tomorrow, bringing a spike in short range S swell short term.
The Eastern seaboard is in between two large highs at the moment with a system near New Zealand still generating surf via a tradewind fetch and a new system moving through the Bight about to replicate it.
In between, a trough and cold front are currently approaching Tasmania, expected to bring a vigorous S’ly change o/night, bringing a spike in short range S swell short term.

Despite the focus on this week’s impressive swell event, we’ve got some nice waves due this weekend too.
This will drag the trade fetch southwards before another dominant high quickly re-establishes a firm ridge and SE surge on Thursday, bringing another round of SE tending E/SE swell favouring the sub-tropics for size.
We’ll see the current dominant high (1034hPa) straddling New Zealand which is directing a broad trade fetch through the South Pacific and into the Coral Sea slowly migrate eastwards this week with an E’ly dip forming a trough of low pressure due E of SEQLD mid week.
