Upgrade in swell for tomorrow, large pulses next week.
Upgrade in swell for tomorrow, large pulses next week.
It’s a real monster of a system and we may see some long range SE-E/SE swell at spots open to the north of k’gari and the Breaksea spit with some 2-3ft sets through Tues and Wed.
That low looks to be a monster of a system. As the deep low moves eastwards towards the North Island it aims up gales to severe gales back towards the east coast and we’re on track to receive some powerful swell from the E/NE through next week.
Tomorrow and Wednesday will be mostly poor, better from Friday.
There’s broad model agreement now for a low to form off the sub-tropical coast and merge with a Coral Sea low pressure centre, deepening explosively through Sat and into Sun.
The current large swell will ease steadily into tomorrow as winds slowly improve, best Wednesday morning but smallest. A new SW swell will arrive through the day though.
The coming outlooks favours the South Coast with good to great surf due from later week into the weekend.
Over the weekend there’s now growing agreement on a coastal low (possibly some variant of an ECL) to form off the NENSW or SEQLD coast and intensify as it moves into the Tasman, with potential for severe weather and sizey swells.
The coming week would be better spent in the snow than surf.
