Recap
The surf started slow and lumpy yesterday but built more through the day as winds shifted light to moderate onshore. Sets to 2ft were seen, easing back through today under light, morning offshores.
This weekend and next week (Jul 26 - Aug 1)
Tiny waves are due to continue through tomorrow with a long-range W/SW groundswell expected to come in at 1-1.5ft.
Strengthening E/NE winds will create poor conditions tomorrow in any case, shifting N’ly Sunday ahead of variable sea breezes but with no size.
Moving into Monday/Tuesday and another tiny, inconsistent W/SW groundswell is due, generated by a distant polar frontal progression that took place around the Heard Island region earlier this week. No size above 1-1.5ft is expected again, but the remnants of a weak low moving across us into the afternoon Monday should generate some weak S’ly swell for Tuesday.
At this stage it only looks to be 2ft and with strong SW winds as the backside of the low moves across us, possibly coming in clean Wednesday but only to 1-2ft before a trough brings a shallow S/SE change.
Longer term a couple of strong, east-southeast tracking frontal systems from under WA should produce some small W/SW groundswell for later week, but more on this Monday. Have a great weekend!
