Deep into the second season of Weird Waves, host Dylan Graves turns his back on the natural world for an artifical high. First Graves gives a potted history of wavepools, then revisits Sunway Lagoon in Malaysia, built in 1997 and made famous in surfing via Taj Burrow's film parts, before ending at the soon-to-be-completed Palm Springs pool.

Wavepools have been around in one form or another for 90 years (first pool was in Germany 1929), but to date they've always been a loss leader for fun parks. With the advent of URBNSURF, Waco, and the pools in Palm Springs, we're about to find out if surfing can stand on its own.
