Pumping waves set for the final day of the Quiksilver Pro France

Swellnet Analysis

This year's Quiksilver Pro France got off to a cracking start with two days of solid 4-6ft surf and a long barreling right hand bank right out front.

The waves backed off slowly over the weekend and into the middle of the waiting period, but despite a couple of consecutive lay days, we’ve got one final pulse of strong W/NW groundswell expected to finish off the event in style.

Earlier this week a powerful low formed off Newfoundland, projecting a fetch of 35-50kt winds towards Europe. A long-period W/NW groundswell was generated by this system, arriving overnight ahead of a peak Thursday morning (local time). Clean 4-5ft+ surf is expected across the French beach breaks, with light variable winds tending offshore through the morning, offering great conditions for both the Mens and Womens Finals day.

Watch the webcast live from 5pm this evening, Australian Eastern Time.

Roger that Shoredump.

Bintangs primed.

Pillows plumped.

Disappointment ready for deployment as heats are postponed due to high tide or similar event.

Looks so much fun! Perfectly clean and a good size too; how's the lines pouring through the bay on the wide shot. Nothing gets me more frothed than that.

Medina is a superior surfer to John John and the gulf is only going to become more apparent as Medina matures and becomes more comfortable in waves of consequence.

John John - say what you want about natural talent and not wanting do undignify himself by scrapping through heats ...fact is he's a professional surfer.

That's been his life since pre puberty. He hasn't been going to school, he hasn't been pushing trolleys at Coles.

Surely he can figure out, after more than a decade, some basic heat strategy ie if you don't catch any waves you will have nothing upon which to surf.

I'm sure he's a nice fella and his surfing can be amazing, but can someone have a word in his ear ?

Can't believe Bede was 4.40 (I only got 4.15) on Spotsbet, had a little bite at that, thanking you.

bit overhyped imo. closeout, sent girls out in shit. but loved it, beers at greenie surf club, styling, but was told it was 8- 10, based on the amount of clothes everyone was wearing it must have been degrees, not feet.
go the aussies.

It's totally different from 3 hours ago when it was pumping. Low tide close-outs now.

Not sure why they're running, should be on hold.

It was only good for those opening three heats really.
By QF4 it had deteriorated.

It's on Fox, but it's on the channel where you have to use the red button to access it. Which means you can't record it and FF through the lengthy lulls

Most underwhelming final I've seen in ages.

Congrats to Gab.
