Watch: Dane Reynolds // Rejects Too

Don't matter the order you do it - watch then read or read then watch - but the reading part is crucial to any DR clip; a requisite companion to his loose surfing, editing, and song choice.

Vid features Matt McCabe, Craig Anderson (one wave), Dane (appears around the two minute mark), Eithan Osborne, Dylan Graves, Jake Anderson, and Andrew Doheny.

I surfed with Matt yesterday morning. There were some overhead green slabbing closeouts. Each one teased that it would have an exit but there were none. I didn’t make one barrel but it was fun. I think Matt made a few… We laughed about how geriatric we felt trying to get to our feet in quickly breaking waves these days.

In between sets he told me that his friend – who I remember because last summer he showed up at Matt’s place with a bump stock to build an AK47 and swore the world was going to end in October – he had sent him a new video and it had a compelling take on Covid. I laughed and he said I’ll probably think he’s crazy but he’s going to send me a link.

After that I headed down to Zuma. I never surf Zuma. Last time was probably 10 years ago but yesterday had an odd mix of swells that led me to believe it would be worth trying… the kids were covered and I had all day to surf so why not?

It looked fun enough so I suited up and ran up the beach to where there was a hole in the crowd. A guy parked in a black Porsche SUV starts yelling out his window “Fuckin beat it Reynolds go back to Silver Strand and leave your cameraman at home you fuckin kook…” I laughed and gave him a sympathy nod cause I thought it was an attempt at humor but as I keep running and his yelling gets fainter I realize he isn’t joking and now it actually becomes funny. The last words I hear is “that’s what I thought.”

There were some random peaks and I tried to do some tricks for the camera with mixed results.

Out in the water a long haired fellow on a soft top asks if he can have 30 seconds of my time for a business pitch. You can’t really say no so he proceeds to inform me that NFT’s are all the rage and they could be right up my alley.

“What are NFT’s?” Well shit, I still don’t quite understand but someone is creating something called crypto punks which are 8 bit digital art files that are being traded for millions of dollars. Fuckin crazy. My brain does not compute. Fascinating and foreign. Why would you want ownership of this art? Why is it crypto? What the fuck?

I can’t tell if Crypto is gonna be like Beanie Babies and it’ll be laughable looking back or if it’s actually the future global currency. He says it’s the future. Well shit, maybe I should make some NFT’s…

When I get home I see Matt had sent me a link to the video. I give it 20 minutes. It’s extremely poor quality and uses bootleg YouTube clips to document how covid tests are being used as conduits for microchips to be implanted into our bodies that ultimately will be used to make us slaves that mine cryptocurrencies. I mean that’s as far as I got…

I’m sure every era and every generation had it’s confusing and uncertain times,

But, right now, can someone explain what the hell is going on? Is there a Satanist Cabal BBQ’ing babies at George Soro’s house while Bill Gates implants tracking devices in every human being or is half the population losing their goddamn minds?

Anyways little backstory on this vid – I brought Matt along on the Electric Acid Surfboard Test just to have a surf bud. We were meant to go to Puerto Rico which would have lovely left air sections but went to Salina Cruz instead where there isn’t a left in sight. Matt hates right points but I checked out his footage the other day and was like shit he was ripping!

I’ve always wanted to put this Parquet Courts track to surfing. It feels as relevant as ever. Then I was looking through some video clips from when we got skunked in Puerto Rico right before Covid shutdown and thought the clip of us driving around listening to Ween’s 12 golden country hits was funny… then I started digging into footage that didn’t find a place in Short Circuit and there we go, in honor of trying to keep things loose and not overthink what qualifies as an episode, we have Rejects too! Hope you enjoy.

Born in '85, Dane is offically a Gen Y kid (or a Millenial), yet he comes across as the last of the Gen X slackers replete with cynicism, irony, and half-formed thought bubbles dropped because the cynicism and irony is too much weight to carry around all the time.

Dunno if I like it cos of nostalgic value or just a refreshing change from the 100% opt in attitude of the young modern pro.

That photo triggers my thinking again. China is a mighty threat to Australia and already owns vast amounts of its productive land and ports, has its own airstrip in WA. Our ridiculous government enabled duty free exports ...so China invested heavily in dairies and grazing land (aided by Hancock's greedy daughter) a huge Ag college and ports in SA and NT. This week was revealed the Government has licensed China to mine Cckatoo Island in Western Australia near 'an abandoned military complex'...Are these people insane...or pawns of China, which is taking over the Pacific in the interests of its fascist dicatorship and presumably in the 'interest' of its vastly overpopulated nation. What's going on?? while we are distracted by CV19, sexual travesties, bikie murders and mind dulling TV programmes and surfing . China is an enemy, not by war but because it wants our nation. along with it's 'Belt and Road'. ..while we doze off...or nod off....or just go for a wave.

Unrevealed is that the Australian Commonwealth has allowed China to frenetically build into "Australian territory" in Antarctica and though the mining treaty does not expire until 2040 they will both be 'into it' . There is 'no mining' yet they already know every mineral below the ice. During my research on Antarctica the Commonealth immediately acted to stop my asking questions and has not answered my letters asking 'why". During that research I tended to the view that an Australian, Greg Hunt, was engaged in conversation over mining. Australia 'owns' none of Antarctica..it is owned only by Spain and Portugal owing to the treaty of Tordesillas of 1494 (The 1494 Treaty of Tordesillas neatly divided the "New World" into land, resources and people claimed by Spain and Portugal. ..(National Geographic, n.d.)) Owing to a defeat in battle of Portugal Indonesia claimed part of New Guinea and on that premise would own a large portion of the Antarctic.

Mean while we doze-on

"Revolution" is better explained in "Pawns in the Game" than in the propaganda we are spoon-fed. The disrespect for adults as in the photo which triggered my dissertation here , although commonplace in Australia is not yet required to be a public demonstration as in the photo.

It's purpose is to discredit the traditions, the opposition, the appearance and enchant the young into 'empowerment' through compliance, costume and chanting...not much different technique from sport, 'rock' concerts, demo-marches and the concept of 'recreational drugs'...which covers quite a range of substances and philosophies.

Next is teaching people vilification and characterisation to help them feel empowered, acceptable and righteous. Donald Trump showed (if you could see it) how Hitler polarised and mesemerised German people(and others) but Hitler had reason stemming from his wartime experience (Trump was a draft dodger and crook)and realisation financiers want war...it's immensely profitable...as are the armaments industries and empowers boundary shifting and an upsurge in or continuation of tribal hatred... Condaleeeeza Rice had, for example redrawn the Middle East boundaries prior tothe second invasion of Iraq and China is doing so now....and we are letting it happen.

We, repeatedly electing narcissists and psychpaths as 'leaders', put ourselves forward for the as our 'raison d'etre'...work for the enrichment of others, pay taxes and go to war on command...or in some cases when infused with hatred stemming from religion, old scores and propaganda in the 'multiculture'. Whilst not berserk over th CV 19 impositions I can be circumspect about the degree of compliance demanded and not adhered-to. Religions encouraging church attendances is la-la land behaviour pretending 'trust in good will protect you'...but in fact exercising control. "PK" the ABC ' sport-guru'was praising CV19 obedience at the tennis...when in fact the crowd was not wearing masks or observing the 'distance'. The government did not close the place down to the morons until the Croats and Serbs got stuck into each other using whatever came to hand including chairs. Any chance of deporting them, Mr Dutton...?

Some of the propaganda paraded by the 'modern' idealists involves 'sexism'...racism' and 'anti semitism'. Sexism is vague and manipulable and as sticky as fly-paper. One definition is "prejudice, stereotyping, or discrimination, typically against women, on the basis of sex."...presumably "sex"means 'gender'. Prejudice against women happens across a range of offences including Trump's 'pussy snatching' and 'not good looking enough' for him to want to hump...yet millions of women voted for him and went on like performing seals at his 'snake-oil' rallies.

The President of the Tokyo Olympics resigned over a comment flashed across the world as '"sexist" as he said (reportedly) that Board meetings with a lot of women would take a long time as they talk too much"...well...they often do and the droning on "The Drum" and "Q and A" are only two examples. Keneally abusing a young bloke in Q and A earlier this year could not be shut up...she went on and on and on.....and on...Michaelia Cash is much the same. I've conducted meetings where you can't shut the women up....that's not to say my few examples are universal or that men cannot be just as garralous or opinionated but the 'globalised' humbug over Mori's comment indicates how immature and neurotic we have become. Better he said "so what...it was just a quip " and got on with the job, That's very different from Trump's idiocies and lies and then saying 'I was only joking'.

"Sexism' directed at men in general includes criticism of male individuals like Mori. We have to grin and bear it...or just laugh it off...or not give a toss anyway...who cares? unless it is serious abuse. If you have ever been in a relationship with a spiteful woman or one who wants to flick you you may well have experenced sexism.

For actual 'sexism' example employment being cleverly directed away from women and comes to mind hortie jobs requirng 'welding certificate'...which they will not be required use but which men are more likely can have ...or claim to have ....is 'sexism' ....Women supervisors being stooged and frustrated by smartie men. ...for example, years ago the highly competent female supervisor at Waverley Council told the men to clean out the tool boxes...they pretended they had and she trusted them...then they complained to top end that the boxes were dirty and insect ridden so she copped an earful...They sniggered. The same supervisor called 'time' at the end of the mowing of Waverley cemetry ...The man mowing the 'chequerboard' style then...with the mower operating went diagonally across the chequerboard ...to ruin it...why?..."to piss off the bitch and get a man".

At Centennial park one male angry at having a woman supervisor poisoned plants to get her a 'please explain'. The new manager, same place ,when a woman was again selected correctly as senior hortie said "I'm not having a woman supervisor " and installed a man...The public service board sorted him out and reinstated the woman. These are genuine 'sexist' cases against women...."They talk too much" is just a whistle in the wind.

"Racism"...the great insult levelled at Australians. It is presumed to be 'negative' for some reason...but a person could love the human race and be truly 'racist. Racism does not exist. There are no two races . There is one race...the human race. Within it are numerous TRIBES...which have forever been circumspect about outsiders...and rightly so....until the 'ring in' shows he/she is not a menace to the tribe or its culture or freedom. There was a great Australian culture and with some short term reservation post WW11 when the wealthy moved to the eastern Suburbs and Northern beaches and the poor to Surrey Hills, Leichhardt and out as far as Granville, Snowy or the sticks. Mostly within 2-6 months we were friends with those with whom we were at first circumspect and those essentially European migrants worked away long hours in this comparative Utopia and often became wealthy. If you are from the Nth Shore...Pino' at the pizzaria in Willoughby Road Crows Nest was one...I knew him when he arrived and set up in a bare pizza shop at Crowie...went on to own a 3 story building nearbye a real estate empire and a Porsche. Another started a corner grocery shop out in the Hills district and without ever borrowing from a bank or anyone else created a substantial property portfolio. Others grew 'filthy rich' just selling tomatoes at the markets. (an 'ethnic' crime area in which major stores have been complicit)

That said, property was not the rip-off it now is...My sister for example paid $16,000 for a huge propery at Enmore and $12,000 for another....amongst others. We surely wish such migrants well...but gangs, drug dealers, burglars, murderers, stand-over types bikies, hate mongers, tax dodgers, people who only employ others of their own nationality......why should be kind to them?...why should we not tell them 'go home to your own country' even if they have a paper saying they are Australian BUT when it comes to random abuse, bullying, violence, mental cruelty towards migrants or stigmatised people..that is tribalism gone way too far.

We perhaps all have views on what's desirable in Australia and what's not but expressing those ideas without intent to foment cruelty is tribal circumspection. There is no such thing as 'racsm'...there is tribalism. Once you grasp that fact the propaganda falls over.

The idea of there even being a 'semite' is as silly as calling an English speaking person 'an English' or one with whom you disagree an 'anti English'

Anti-semitism...no such thing exists even though acepted by Courts politicans and people..."Semitic-root" language is common-place language not 'jewish'. Several languages have 'semitic roots'.... some African, Amhari, Arabic, Assyrian, , to some degree Greek, Macedonian, Phoenician,Tigre,Tigrenya for example. The Hebrew language was of a similar style in the use and joining of consonents and vowels. 'Anti-semitic' being promenaded as 'anti-jew' or 'anti zionist' is absurd. Few speakers of the myriad users Semitic based language are Jews. The term is as utterly stupid as calling British and Australians "anti-English" to indicate something with which you disagree. It works well however in the propaganda driven modern world and the great success of "Israel" created by the Reich in 1933 in promoting the New World order via USA.

Hitler's NWO was not the same as that of Mayer Amschel Bauer (18th Century) whose present-day accolytes have it almost 'arrived' with globalisation. Bauer did it through massve theft, inveigling, control of Freemasonry a fanatical family architecture, the ownership of money, indebtedness of governments to Central banks which encouraged government to be borrowers with us as guarantors. His agent also brought down the Bank of England through promulgating wrong information abou the outcome of Waterloo. Soros has twice come close to that an Soros is a Central Bank agent, The American Central Bank licence was taken from them for usury in America (24-33% taxpayer guaranteed) for which they sent Britain to war with USA (War of Independance) . That was to be very profitable, whoever won.

Financiers swept to power again from the Jekkyl Island agreement (1913) and the war triggered by the Masonic assassination of Ferdinand and his wife. Much earlier Napoleon, and then later Hitler reacted sharply against the financiers who organise revoluton and war...but Napoleon went nuts trying a second war with Britain and Hitler went nuts for other reasons....a dominant one was his mistrust of Officers from WW1 experiences but also his drug regime.

From 1933-1940 Germany was in happy acquiescence building "Israel" in infrastructure, bank, scores of kibbutz and transporting some 70,000 willing zionists to it. It then traded with "Israel" and disdvantaged the Palestinians. This "1930" exposure came out in the programme last night (12/03/2021) on Jewish antiques (Roadshow) where people spoke of being sent to Palestine in the 1930's...They were not 'sent' it as an agreed destination and those who did not do becasme the victims of the shoa. The allied lie was that Isarel was created in 1948 as an outcome of the 'holocaust'. No one of the Roadshow 'experts' picked up on the 1930's . Ignorant? or compliant? The Allies are also silent on "Israel" offering to 'route the British in the middle east" for the German military. They did it anyway once they had allied approval and force in holding of the land...had for a decade treid to get around the Britsh regulation of immigration and then commenced the genocide of the real owners of the land, so far going for 72 years unabated.

People puzzled-by, or researching the shoa, an event which deservedly attracts disagreements from professionals in various areas of it or expressing doubts are victimised as "anti-semitic"...Expressing doubt as to say 'whether the crematoria could handle anywhere near to the allied quantums of bodies' does not mean one hates jews. Puzzling over the absence of yellow stains on the 'gas chamber' walls when saying such residue should be there is not 'jew-hating'...but legitimate puzzing. Disagreeing that even the lowered figure of 6 Million jewish people were victims is not 'jew-hating'. The latest complaint is by a lady still living after Auschwitz who said, with no adversity, that the photos from Auschwitz are allied fakes...how would she know?...She was there and there when the photos were taken... Why are we still puzzling nearly 100 years after the war?...I suggest because the New Order of Israel has mightily prospered in money and control and propaganda. As with Christian Porter, would it not be sage to profoundly review the shoa and come to decisions rather than 'quasi' decisions ....or does ridiculing and vilifying generational concerns suit better the propaganda?

Meanwhile we doze on, keep shopping at Bunnings, make no personal protests to the Chinese Embassy or the Chamber of Deputies. China has a pincers movement going on Australia and Australians and the other lot are deeply controlling of our politicians. We are allowing the takeover of our country in the copybook fashion.

I'll leave it there.

Can I add to it with my own anecdote?

Recently my hometown got criticised in The Guardian by a young female writer who said the suburb is not friendly towards People of Colour - which the writer is, she appeared to be Eurasian.

In the article she claimed people stared at her on the street, made her feel uncomfortable etc etc.

Quick Google showed her to be a drop dead gorgeous model who often struts around with minimal kit on.

My wife and I did informal surveys and, while our town is 'whiter' than, say, Western Sydney - where the writer is from - every time we went down the road we counted the number of people of seeming non-Caucasian ethnicity. Sounds ridiculous but it was to prove a point in my head. Anyway, the numbers werent miniscule, fairly significant, more than I actually considered, but I should've known that as I've got an Aboriginal family two doors up, Philippino across the road, Maori in the house right behind me, East European in the subdivision behind it.

Not only that, but it's 2021, people don't live in bubbles, we often work far from home, where the ethnic mix is different than home suburbs, we study at diverse universities, get attended to by recently-migrated doctors and nurses, see the ethnic quotas filled across the tele. Colour is nothing novel. To think she was the victim of racism in a suburb that sees tens, perhaps hundreds, of people more exotic than her on any given weekend seems a flight of fancy.

Of course not all of them are so well proportioned...

Our interpretation - and keep in mind my wife is a staunch defender of minorities - is that the writer had confused a race issue with people simply staring at her because of her looks.

Pissed me off because it made us look intolerant, but also, if I was right, then it made a mockery of race issues. An insecure young girl gets to say which town is racist and which isn't. Not old enough yet to discern the reason for the attention so she attributes it to the most vile human quality.

The wife had to restrain me from writing a letter to The Guardian. Once I'd calmed down I realised that'd make me the perfect foil for the perky wondergirl with the soft-brown complexion: the angry, middle-aged white guy.

So after all that...fuck, I don't know. That's my experience, and she had hers, and the refugee DR refers to also had her own experience. Saying racism simply doesn't exist gives cover to the people who still hold vile beliefs, but the water gets very murky when we enter the debate with a skewed understanding of what racism actually is.

My concern: If wokeness is shallow and only worthy of contempt, how does one express themselves against power structures in a world of increasing inequality?

AndyM's picture
AndyM's picture
AndyM Friday, 12 Mar 2021 at 12:27pm

That's one of my primary issues with it.

First of all I think wokeness is missing the bigger picture i.e. neoliberalism and class warfare, and second, "performative wokeness" is currently providing plenty of ammo for the Right, as well as the fence sitters and also the more rational thinkers amongst the Left.
How do we now express ourselves?
Maybe with less sanctimony and contempt for those whose views we are supposedly trying to change.
Staged photos for the purpose of emotional manipulation also don't sit well with me.
