Vale...and thanks! “When the moon is shining the cripple becomes hungry for a walk” ― Chinua Achebe, Things Fall Apart

No the album was not Pet Sounds, but a best of.
Pet Sounds came later to my listening.
Disagree, really enjoy Pet sounds.
This was album cover was talking about, not the Banksy one which I also know.

same one I had as a little un on tape (along with duane eddy, kinks, carl perkins, eddie cochrane, shadows.. thanks dad..) LOVED it.. that album had the live campfire-singalong-esque 'Help Me Rhonda'. I agree re pet sounds being a bit overblown.. I finally dug it up at Andromeda on Twin Street (same day I got Bowie's Never let Me Down) because the guy that picked the top 10 albums of all time on SAFM circa 1985 (pre internet) famously said pet sounds, though not on the list, was easily the best album of all time. I thought it was okay. Maybe I tried it too early.. same with some of the Kinks' more cerebral concepts..
RIP, you talented weirdo. Loved your pop music 20 years after the fact! Legend.
(that's not jim banks.. really???)

Think Banksy had a better bottom turn, actually bends his knees. :)

Yeah I've never "got" Pet Sounds.
There're a couple of great pop songs, some lovely harmonies but basically, through the album, nothing happens - I keep waiting for something but it never comes.
Although I expect the production was revolutionary for 1966.
In any case, Brian Wilson and the Beach Boys were massively popular and influential and their big songs are absolute cultural touchstones.
Travel well Brian.

Jim Banks did a recent insta post talking about his photo being used, maybe @udo can fish it out.
As for Brian, RIP, a genius, a one off, and Pet Sounds still and always going to be in my top 10, and part of the playlist of my youth and great memories of those days. So many of those records I still put on today, BB King Live at the Regal, Bowie's albums, Jimi, The Stone's Get Yer Ya Ya's Out. Lou Reed Rock'n' Roll Animal, etc, still get a kick out of that era, as well as James Brown, Aretha, Otis Redding, the Motown artists. so much great music that still stands up today. The Beach Boys are just a stand alone band, Brian's arrangements, chord progressions, those harmonies.
All these great artists dying makes me feel very old. I dread the day I turn on the radio and hear Mick Jagger has died, or Keith, fuck when Keith goes that's it, it's all over.
It was a great time to be young and kickin' the late 60's and '70's, we had an epic soundtrack, and Brian Wilson and the Beach Boys were a big part of it. Massive.
Like @Andy M said, travel well Brian, and thanks.
