I approach this from a position that diversity is a good thing.
Two examples: If you look at those that most strongly opposed SSM here or are the most vocal against quotas for women representation in the (so-called) Liberal Party they are white middle aged or old men of the LNP who are mostly from privileged backgrounds or positions. That is a fact. These same men could be described as holding reactionary political positions on most issues dealing with any sort of social or political progress, think of the LNP's ongoing infighting for policy direction for example. Again a fact. In politics or business its the same, who are the people holding power and who is resisting any change to that power base?
