I hate to interrupt, this is just getting interesting...again...

Maybe something for your perusal later, when you're all done....

Trigger warning: macrobusiness article. But a bloody good one!

Why does everyone hate the greens indeed?

https://www.macrobusiness.com.au/2019/04/everyone-hate-greens/

".. The LNP is the worst open borders nut of them all. It just pretends it does border protection by persecuting refugees while ripping down barriers for planes.

But I digress. The Greens push to shut down debate about immigration is poisonous. It breeds resentment everywhere, making them the very illiberal force that the right accuses them of being.

And it does worse. Much worse. The racial fixation of the Greens has completely swamped their core message, their raison detre if you will. So we come to this, at Domain:

Greens members volunteering in last year’s disastrous Victorian election campaign couldn’t explain to voters what the party stood for and what it could achieve, a scathing internal analysis has found.

…Documents seen by The Age show one-third of the Greens’ Victorian members quit the party in the 21 months to December, largely in a state election year when on previous trends the membership should have grown...."

Blowin, at the age of 14 I spent six weeks living with my cousins in Newry in Northern Ireland. The troubles kicked off about 5 years later and in a period of about 4 years over 50 people were murdered in that town. Shot, blown up or burnt to death. Most were innocent of anything except doing their job or being in the wrong place at the wrong time. I still have cousins who live there with their children and grand-children. I know you have difficulty understanding any form of human conflict beyond a drop in so do the world a favour and shut the fuck up about this issue. If you can't, try out your attitude in the local pub. If you find some like-minded morons you might even avoid a punch in the head.

You just told me that innocent people got killed and that it was justified by separatism ! No different to the NZ loser .

What I am saying is that anyone who disturbs a fragile peace for no reason is more guilty than those who pull the trigger. In this case those being, Johnson, Farage and co. And yet again putting words in my mouth because you cannot distinguish between explaining the reasons events occur and justifying them. But why would you be able to do something as complex as that when you contradict yourself regularly, hold strong opinions that are logically incompatible and have no capacity for empathy at all. Your usual procedure is just to say the most offensive thing possible to get a response. Sorry mate, no more. You are a complete waste of time and have been too obnoxious for too long with your shallow ill considered bullshit about matters you do not even begin to understand. When I said that it was solely the decision of the murderers to pull the trigger you said that external political forces had forced them into that position .....just like Frazer Anning.

Your words.

I don’t want you restricting your posts , even though I think you’re a deluded wanker most of the time. Because alternative viewpoints are essential....something you’ve always struggled with .

Nevermore? What was I thinking. Here we are locked into the eternal cycle of reincarnation or at least eternal recurrence in the Dionysian sense. There is no escape. We can clean the scum out of Parliament, strip the parasites of their assets, and they will come back just as powerful and just as rich within a decade. Murder them in their beds and, like maggots in a corpse, a whole new breed will spontaneously generate from their decaying flesh.

There is no escape. Just an eternal war fought across ever shifting landscapes between ever shifting alliances, on ever differing terms, with weapons here and money there. Now with lies, then with truth. No-one's words can be trusted. Don't listen. Watch and watch carefully. Even actions can deceive. Consider the fucking budget, promises that will never be delivered based on irresponsible estimates. Bright and shiny on the surface, a pus filled suppurating ulcer just below the surface, covered by a layer of epidermal tissue a single cell thick.

And even then in this carefully constructed arrangement of toothpicks, tissue paper and glue, so insubstantial a decent fart would blow it over, even then when it is a ghost, a ghost budget, the ghost of Frydenberg's dead unborn child, even fucking then they had to let their true nature slip through, they had to make sure that just in case, by some miracle they survived and had to implement the babyshambles, that it would still deliver more to those who least need it and sweet fucking triple fuck all to those who do.

By their works ye shall know them! Remember that Scomo? I mean you can understand a simple upfront bastard who's out for a quick buck and makes no pretence that they are in any way moral or fair. Shitheads to be true but of a lower order in the hierarchy of turdery than these freaks loudly praising the lord, singing hymns and clapping hands and then getting down to their mission of totally fucking over anyone remotely vulnerable to their toxic schemes. Dressing it all up as "fiscal responsibility" or "sound economic policy" . Sound for them and their Big Endian mates. Cold, dead economic silence for the rest of us.

And all without even the slightest trace of enlightened self-interest. Functioning with an event horizon so short their plans for the weekend are still up in the air and beyond that, nothing matters. Let all the horsemen come galloping through and they will feign surprise. War, Famine, Death and the other fucker on the White horse. And when the world is on fire they will still piss in the sea out of habit and a deep, deep disconnection with anything natural, anything that might involve standing still in a natural environment, anything that might require an original thought, anything not included in that copy of Lord Moloch's Manual they received in ascending to the level of senior governmental lackey. Their only creative exercise a determination to find another deadly sin to stimulate their exhausted flaccid, impotent nervous system.

On Brexit, I think an agreement is much closer than most imagine. All parties are unwilling to risk a no deal so they are now highly motivated to agree. The only realistic possibility would seem to be a soft Brexit including a soft border in Ireland. This will probably be sold to the public as a temporary arrangement or transitional period. No guarantees, but that's where I would be putting my money.

Hey Bb , I’m not sure of this replies to where you posted but it was unreal.

Your writing is taking shape again. You’re good when you are fee....

I meant this :
I agree to a point Stu but blaming the boomers for all those things ignores that it was the previous generation who had the power and made most of those decisions. Reagan and Thatcher were not boomers and even John Howard was born too early. Yes we had advantages in many ways but our lifestyles were much more restricted than those of young people today. Compare the real cost of airfares in the 70s to today. Very few people had overseas holidays at that time. Even local travel was more expensive, difficult and dangerous. Shit I look back in wonder at surviving some of those early road trips and I could name half a dozen who didn't. To my mind the real, problems began with the generation who came of age in the Eighties the tail end of the boomers if you like but they were the "greed is good" generation. In surfing, for example, there was an extreme shift in attitudes between roughly 75 and 80. Most of the seventies "pro" surfers survived hand to mouth and some made huge sacrifices for fuck all reward because they loved what they were doing. There were always those bankrolled by the bank of Mum and Dad (quick shout out to MR and Shaun!) but they were a tiny minority. What happened in surfing was a microcosm of what happened in wider society. You can blame it on the boomers if you like and yep, I will agree we contributed, but the real problems were those in power in our youth and the cultural change induced by the Neo-liberal policies they introduced.
