Now read that again, youngster!

And no, I don’t think that slowing or halting (which is your position?) the rate of immigration (whatever type/types you haven't got back to me about!) is the PANACEA that will 'fix' congestion; is the main problem with "the (previously...where in WA years back?) spiraling" house prices; will sort out hospital wait times & lack of social services etc. I also see you didn't mention any impacts on the environment at all. There's some interesting paths to take there.

As for the "wage declines", as you put it, this is of particular interest to me. It's why I'm wary of say, Van Onselen peddling his economic shtick (the dismal science!) that doing 'something' with immigration will magically resolve any and all issues in this sphere. It's a distraction. It's why he's getting air-time with the usual right-on suspects.

It's something that demands wider discussion and deeper structural change. But remind me, and I may get back to it next week when I'm in. I may use the university and VET sector as a way into getting at the crux of this wage matter.

We're getting there, comrades.

"So the Coalition dump Malcolm Turnbull as leader and he decides to quit Parliament leading to a by-election in his seat of Wentworth.

This is no problem because he has a margin of seventeen percent.

Ok, take a couple of percent off because the new candidate isn’t PM, another three or four for Mal’s personal following, five for the by-election protest vote, but there still should be a healthy margin for the Liberal candidate.

Ok, they need more females in Parliament, but let’s not worry about that now, they decide that Dave Sharma is their man!"

Blowin, I just noticed that you claimed somewhere back there that people had been living off the sea for hundreds of thousands of years and compared this to a "few millenia" of Australian indigenous history.

The reality is quite different. For a start modern humans, Homo sapiens only appeared about 200,000 years ago and for the majority of that time they were an exclusively African species. For a long time the earliest evidence we had for H.sapiens outside Africa was from Australia at 60,000 years ago. If we compare those two dates, the species appearing at 200,000 years ago and arriving in Australia at 60,000 years ago, it is clear that Australian indigenous history cannot be dismissed as "a few millenia". 60 is not a few and it covers 30% of all human history.

Blowin's picture
Blowin's picture
Blowin commented Saturday, 20 Oct 2018 at 7:24am

So you think that Homo sapiens hatched from a magic egg placed by the hand of God in the centre of the African desert 200,000 years ago ?

Or do you think that maybe they slowly evolved from their predecessors - who had slowly evolved from their predecessors - none of whom realised they were actually evolving, just as we don’t, and all of whom existed on seafood they’d caught.

As they had done since life evolved from the ocean as I earlier stated.

We share common ancestry with first Australians , we’ve all been surviving off the sea for the same length of time and living the exact same subsistence existence living in harmony with nature up until the extremely recent past.

It’s just that Lifty wants you to believe that only the blackfellas ever existed in this manner and that they have some intrinsic connection with the Earth that we could never understand.

Our paths really only diverged with the beginning of agriculture less than 10000 years ago. And even then it took another few thousand years for any major difference to be felt by the majority of humanity.

We were all “ unique custodians of the Earth “.

I’d go as far as to say that most people’s ancestors were living directly from their own means of provision and sustenance less than 50 generations ago. Call it 1000 years. Living exclusively from their knowledge of the sea , seasons , animals , plants , land the patterns of life around them.

Maybe even half that time for a very large portion of humanity.

Including us.

You think your Northern English relo’s were popping down to Coles for their groceries 400 years ago ? They grew or caught their food or they starved.

100% Blowin

It's pretty crazy to think that all of us have roots and history and an almost forgotten nomadic hunter gatherer culture similar to the indigenous people, it's just for different reasons geographic, different plant and animals species, we moved into a different era.

Really we are all cut from the same cloth and all have similar past to a certain point.

Maybe that's why many of us have such a connection to nature and love to get out and spend time in nature, i love surfing, i love fishing, half of the reason is just being out in the elements as I'm just as happy exploring the coast, seeing a headland in the distance and walking up the beach to check it out, then just sitting on a rock looking out to sea, same goes with the bush/forrest/jungle doesn't matter if it's here or somewhere like Indonesia i love just being in it walking through it the smells and sights, id like to think I've also got a connection to the land or to the planet.

Personally i don't like city's much, only really to go see a band or do a day trip shopping etc, but one day or one night is enough for me.

By stating that their existence in Australia was preceded by hundreds of thousands of years of humanoid existence ?

Even though it true.

To state as much is in no way diminishing indigenous occupation of Australia, merely stating the fact that people have been existing subsistence lifestyles forever .

PS Just because their was specialist occupations , BB does it in any way curtail the fact that the vast majority of people existed by their own determination. And seeing as how the original point was discussing many Millenia previous yet you e focused on 400 years ago it’s pretty obvious you’re grasping.

So Lifty , when you were doing your study and you’d hand in an essay that received a fail , I guess you just kept handing the same failed assignment back in repeatedly as you do with your posts on here ?

And you’re still way off the mark.

Fail.

Ha ha Crypto the time and effort you must go to dig up these old post.

"If the husband wasn't there, you would have been all in, boots and all. Klan fucking maggot"

You don't know me at all, I'm the most peace loving guy you will ever met there is no reason whatsoever to suggest that, if i went through with my thoughts, I'm more likely to have become friends with them than anything negative.

I just like learning from life and experiences rather than secondhand experience from books etc I have many muslim friends but never any real life experience with a women in a borqa.

Im cool with people thinking my thoughts might be odd or unorthodox that's cool, i often put myself out there on this forum and I'm not scared of being a little controversial sometimes on purpose, so I'm cool with a little criticism, but suggesting I'm racist of violent or whatever is way off.

Anyway we had this dissuasion all before, maybe just stick to the relevant conversation after all its a topic you love anyway.

Aaaaaaaaagh! Blowin you said 400 years ago which is why I used it in my response. The misrepresentation was your use of "few" when the true figure was 60. If you are happy with 60 being included in the definition of "few" there is very little point in further discussion since whatever language you are using it is not English.

Crypto current evidence suggests that H.sapiens first appeared in Africa but then migrated and interbred to a limited degree with non-sapiens populations that had arisen from an earlier hominid migration out of Africa at about 2 million years ago from memory. These populations included Neanderthals and Denisovans. Of course, further evidence could emerge to challenge this view.

Blinder, but the most current evidence shows that 'Africa' wasn't at all like the simplistic 'tree' that is portrayed, nor was 'out of Africa' anywhere near as simplistic as has been portrayed.

True Crypto but the broad outline of the Out of Africa hypothesis is still supported by the evidence. Pure OOA suggested there was no interbreeding with non-sapiens populations but the degree of interbreeding seems to have been small. The main difficulties in human evolution are further back and relate to the increasing bushiness of the hominid family tree and the lack of evidence about the relationships between the increasing number of species that have been identified.

Sorry B.B.

I couldn’t remember what I’d written . Make it 500 years or 600 years if it’s more acceptable. The point is the same. Many people have fished in a manner of subsistence food sourcing till the present day my family included.

I can’t prove or disprove that they weren’t fishing in this manner 400 years ago .

From Lifty’s post :

“ Did key diagnostic morphological characteristics emerge in one region and become elaborated with subsequent dispersals? “

ie they don’t know.

Sorry , is it racist to say that ?

And some people have a perpetual cultural history of world war and genocide. And some people, Indigenous Australians, have an 80,000 year Cultural history of the exact opposite. And of surviving war and genocide inflicted by the first group of good 'ol 'fisherman' of the cross. Who still openly advocate sprucing up their arms race and industry. And 'getting' 'immigrants'.

Coming to a market near you. In a nuts shell. Klan boyz, stupey's angels.

Nature boyz.

'BTW. i saw a women at the market in Dandenong the other day with a burqua or maybe it was a Niqab it was kind of in-between couldn't see her face though, i was waiting for my missus so did a bit of people watching with her, to be honest she didn't look oppressed like the full black robe ones I've seen in Indonesia that look like servants of the men, actually looked the opposite in this case she had her little middle eastern guy following her around and from the body language she looked like she was wearing the pants so to speak.

It was quite crowded and was thinking maybe i will accidentally go bump into her and say sorry etc and see if she will interact with me and see the reaction of her husband, but by that time my missus had finished.'

Why do you think that the Indonesians who migrated to Australia to become the first Australians did so ? Why abandon a homeland ?

Population pressure declining local resources forcing them to further pasture ? War and oppressive society sending them into exile ?

Any ideas why they would be forced to undertake such a risky venture ?

Any evidence that Australia was 'depleted' when the british, good 'ol 'fisherman of the cross' declared proven, factual, beyond refute, genocide and war war on Indigenous Australians? No, it was irrefutably proven to be teeming with abundance and home to over 600 hundred diverse Cultural groups. Cultural groups of human beings, not 'animals' that the lying, conniving, smarmy, bloodthirsty brutish warmongers, the british, good 'ol 'fisherman of the cross' lied their guts out about, backed by 'religion and science'.

Any evidence of Traditional Indigenous Australians declaring war on any other countries, or of Traditional Indigenous Australians fleeing to other countries seeking help and asylum because of ' them depleting resources' and driving each other out. No, in 80,000 years, none.

You wouldn't know the meaning of the word 'genuine' blowindo. Try again racist idiot. Piss off.

Of course the British are known for their wars .

So are the Indonesians. As are virtually every culture on the planet.

Legitimate question to ask. If you find any discussion on human history may remotely threaten your sensibilities then don’t participate.
