Not a great deal of action on the charts to start the last week of Winter. A strong high (1040hPa) is on the other side of New Zealand but pressure gradients in the Tasman are weak, with minimal swell energy being generated from that source. N’ly winds are freshening ahead of a trough which is drawing down more moisture from the Indian Ocean and brings a S’ly change mid-week and a small pulse in S swell.
We've got a strong, building W/SW groundswell as NW winds favour the South Coast. An onshore change is due tomorrow, cleaner from Wednesday.
We've got a delay in the change in winds due this afternoon, shifted to midday tomorrow. There are plenty of surfing options for the coming week.
Strong trades through the central and northern Coral Sea over the weekend will gradually extend south by late Sunday, nosing just far enough into SE Qld’s eastern swell window to allow for a minor increase in short range E/NE energy.
Bit of a slow weekend ahead, with easing southerly swells for Saturday becoming very small into Sunday.
A weak N/NE windswell will stop the coast going flat but next weekend looks more promising for surf.
Plenty of surfing options this period, smallest on the weekend but still fun.
There's great to excellent surf due across the state from Sunday but more so next week with good winds and tons of swell.
Plenty of good surf days ahead for the South Coast with a couple of windows for the Mid Coast.
