The Cape Solander debrief continues... This time the evidence is presented by Aaron Hillier who stood on the rocks during the last swell to take these shots for us.

This morning it's two foot in Sydney, yet last Friday Cape Solander was off the hook as a fresh east swell unloaded triple-sucking compression chambers on the shallow sandstone shelf.  Charlie Straumeitis was there to film the carnage (and occasional moments of glory).

When a large swell accompanied by good winds is lining up somewhere around the country, I can't help but get excited visualising the numerous breaks that would be going off when I prepare the forecast notes. My excitement levels are amplified to another level when the forecast region is local! Last week was one of those week's where I couldn't wait until Friday afternoon to clock off from work, pack the car and head down the NSW South Coast. Prior commitments limited my trip to only half a day, but within those six hours I saw numerous waves going unridden on a weekend where everywhere was pumping.

Waking up to pumping surf in your own backyard! That's what happened to Matt Tennent (and, it must be said, many other surfers) on Saturday.

With the surfing hordes of Sydney just a quarter of a tank away exposure becomes a double-edged sword: It's good to be acknowledged, but you can do without the crowds. These shots were taken by Robert Dent during recent sessions at one of the local beachies.

But rumour has it that one or two waves also broke on other coastlines around Australia. Andy Watkins was down in Victoria and verified the rumour by photographing the Sunday session at Bells for us. //STUART NETTLE

Well, after a weekend like that there's no need for words so I'll let Rob Woodward's images do the talking. Rob took these images between Queenscliff and the Bower on Friday and Saturday.

In the past the locals have made it abundantly clear that, despite the beach's huge popularity, some things are best left unsaid. So here it is, a beach with no name pumping under Saturday's epic east swell. All photos by Peter Line (we can name him).

Like beer and chips, some things just shouldn't be messed with. Moving right along... Mark Matthews, Jesse Pollack, Koby Abberton and others put on an incredible display of surfing last Saturday, however the word was they even piked a wave or two.

It's been an epic week on the Gold Coast and Jack Dekort took a quick whip around the main stadiums - Burleigh, D'bah and Snapper - to bring you these shots.

Conditions have changed however, and whether it's due to dredging in the bay, changed weather patterns, or rose coloured glasses, it's a fairly rare thing to see it break these days. This morning it was on though and a swag of local lads got their fill. All photos by Ben Degnan.

With the final screws on the camera rigs tightened last week the Southern Ocean came to life, allowing us to start shooting for the new project. Last weekend Ross, Tom and I - plus a fifteen-strong technical crew - headed south to Tasmania to capture Shipsterns in full flight.
