Watch: Back to Solander

Swellnet Dispatch

Seems the Solander edits have been thin on the ground lately. It used to be that every swell we'd see a number of them hit the 'net, or maybe it's just that there's been fewer swells to turn the old girl over.

Whatever the case, during this week's east swell Tim Bonython went the extra mile looking for a new angle into the Cape and came back with this.

Lucky bastards!!!!

Though for some strange reason I really enjoyed the slowmo vision of how wonky the bloody wave gets. He/she really nasty behaviour. Impressive!

Not me. I couldn't get through that clip with the shitty slow mo and weird jumpy editing. Had to fast forward the first 2 minutes or so until the surfing started, then turned it off a few minutes later. Shame because the waves and surfing were quality.

Turned the sound down and fast forwarded to the waves.
Works well.
Great angle.
What a scarily beautiful wave it is.

I like seeing the riders go dark, actually being in the shade when getting barrelled. Never really noticed it in other footage before.

I actually enjoyed Tim Bonython's clips. See also part two with
Oak Park local grom Jarvis Earle getting a couple, towed in by Kirk Flintoff, Hayden Blair, Harry Fisher and Jughead down the plug hole with Kurt Kiggins and Cameron Staunton showing the difficulties handling getting out.
