Watch: Tim Bonython // Five Days At Peahi - Part 2

It's big, it's long, and it's exhausting.

It's Part 2 of the Peahi swell bender.

Don't forget to save some energy for Part 3.

I was thinking the same thing. Also would have been nice to hear the actual sound of the ocean exploding on the reef.

Not to mention the sounds of jetskis bobbing in the channel and zipping around the lineup!

I watched at 1.75 X with the sound off and it was easier to watch. Made some of the drone footage seem a bit kooky :). Lots of big waves, long an exhausting as Stu said.

Interviews breaking it up were ok , some drone footage of the length of hold downs and rescues would have been interesting . I was also hoping to see that giant set where someone caught the 3rd wave but didn’t get to the bottom of the wave , was hoping to see if it was chop that made him come unstuck or just couldn’t get down because of too much water moving up the face .

Have to give credit to
Tim Bonython , for being there to film the best ever Peahi
and being there to film the best ever
Cloud Break !
Did the skimboarder catch more than 1 wave ?

There was one wave at the end which showed how tricky and fast the waves were travelling. Refreshing to watch. But the slow-mo was to much.

Can anyone make the ultimate sacrifice and sit through that slow-mo shite to be able to get some time stamps of worthy waves for the rest of us? I couldn't make it past the 7 min mark, skipping interviews, on double-speed.
Has surfing known such creative self-indulgence as this? To persist for years with a universally loathed editing style?

Not to mention the Ads.
Guy has to make a living, but geez he puts Channel 9 to shame!

Using a gopro to shoot a wave from 100m is completely devoid of justification

Haven't watched the clip, but a lot of photo/videographers have one on the top of their pro gears' housing for a different view / b role etc.

To my eye they all seem undergunned. Nobody goes on rail. I'm obviously neither a tow board shaper nor a tow surfer, but maybe another foot or more?

Monster waves, though.

I would have thought that longer boards would make longer bottom turns, and handle the chop better,
But I’m no expert.
