After enjoying settled weather but small waves through the last weeks of winter, a number of high-riding fronts passed over Victoria as the season drew to a close.

One last hurrah of swell filled in over the weekend, but the wind was fresh and the temperatures Arctic. The conditions improved through Monday: wind eased, temps rose, but more importantly the short period noise dropped out of the mix leaving only longer period swell to make landfall.

With the next front approaching, winds gently swung to the north again putting Tuesday the 2nd September in the centre of the surfing Venn diagram where offshore wind overlaps with perfect swell.

Knowing it wouldn't last, photographer Steve Arklay shot a number of his local spots before the matrix of conditions shifted yet again.

This week, the surf and weather in Victoria will largely be influenced by the aforementioned front - mid-range size and windy from the west - before conditions change again on the weekend with easing swell and a wind shift to the north.

That's a great shot of winki
Captures the wave way better than the surf camera.
Although it was "one of those days" like you said Stu. Good reference to the Venn diagram

Really nice, good for those who are climatized and used to wearing thicker rubber
