Watch: Late October Burleigh

We get days of DOH swell from the east when ususally it'd be flat and blowing northerly. October, as they say, is the new March.

Yesterday the lingering Coral Sea low began its journey south, swinging the wind with it, so for a brief few hours the offshores combined with peak swell size, and anywhere handling that swell size was pumping.

Burleigh was one such place, as you can see from this video. Highlights of which include Sam Yoon's flying wipeout (0.42s), multiple shows of great barrel intuition, and Kehu Butler's open face turns on inside waves.

Sam Yoon had the right idea on those big boards he rides.

Good shot of the creek spewing out water. Once that moves around the point it makes paddling a real problem. Which was a real problem majority of last year with the amount of rain we had.

Solid drops for sure. Has Burleigh ever regained the epic form it had before the Tallebudgera breakwall went in? Those classic early days of the Neilsen Bros. Drouyn and many locals, and a little later Rabbit, PT, MP and crew in v. early to mid 70s. I recall one epic QLD titles round - maybe 1976? Saturday was at Burleigh (6' plus), Sunday at Kirra (6-8', bigger sets). Rabbit scored an epic barrel at Burleigh and MP took Kirra apart in the final. Thoughts?
