Watch: Paddle-size Naz

Not another Nazare video...

What distinguishes this clip is the water footage that takes the viewer down into the impact zone. Sure, it's not huge Naz, though still bigger than what most readers will have surfed, but while the more common headland angle captures the whole chaotic playing field, this view provides an intimate portrayal of Naz on a paddle day.

The surfers are:

Natxo Gonzalez, Nic von Rupp, Grant Baker, Xabi Lopez, Tito Ortega, Pierre Rollet, Cristian Merello, Tony Laureano, João Macedo, Othmane Choufani, Justine Dupont, Mat Agirre, Axi Munian, Gabriel Sampaio, Pedro Calado.

Well that was interesting. Tough place to paddle, possibly tougher place to shoot from the water. There is stuff comming from all directions.

Great footage.
I'd rather watch Natxo, Twiggy, Justine and some of the others than another "Von-Selfie" video.
Just say'n...

I can understand that to an ant, it would look big for sure maybe for a standard house ant but not for a bull ant. They would go 200ft bombs and just be warming up. Humans at Naz, nah mate, ants is next level!! Anyway probably old news to ants haha!!

You ever seen an ant drown? They die is about 1/100th of a second as soon as the surface tension beneath them fails and if their personal air bubble doesn’t get a chance to form. Ants are brave and strong but Nazare is beyond them. Shame really because those South American fire ants would totally dominate any lineup in the world otherwise.

Ants are better surfers than you think! You need to give them a stick or something to balance on but then watch out JohnJohn because their air game is next levels!! They can fly which means they can thread the needle at Nazare … and if you think it’s big for them, try asking a bacteria what it’s like taking one of those waves on the head; you are multiplying the size differential exponentially- but the pay off is huge - I’ve heard Mercedes Benz and Red Bull have a multimillion contract on the table with some bacteria dudes - pretty clean cut dudes - to do a special movie on the beginnings of big wave surfing with some bacteria mob …it’s legit!!! But seriously though, those bacteria have some balls!!
