Cheers RW
Same but different. That's UK with same sort of tunes.
Eastside Radio Sydney 89.7FM or digital online
Love that music.......

This just blew my mind. His lyrics and rhymes are next level

Having one of those days....
"I'm a coffee guy in a stoner place...too many lazy morons in my face..."
.
And with that off my chest, time to chill.

Anything Tim/Scott/Polyhpia is actually ridiculous and makes me want to both practice and quit guitar.

Amaning stuff Sprout.
Looks like it may have been sped up a touch though.

Watch their live stuff, it's not sped up, he's just fucking insane. It's all so clean! I've started learning Tim's part on G.O.A.T. If I can get close in a year I'll be happy.

Speaking of appreciating the intricacies of the playing and production …
… and needing to be played at volume ;)

Haha. Too much soulless guitar hero noodling and bombastic majesty of rock!

Yeeha! Saw Obituary just pre-Covid. Still got it. Still got impressive hair!
They played with these units from Singapore.. Simpler times.

Today's Good Weekend has a great story on Robert Forster ostensibly about his wife's cancer diagnosis but delving into the Go Betweens' long and winding history. Worth a read if you dig the band, or even the author, Lech Blaine.

Thanks Stu. Definitely one of Aust's most underrated / underappreciated bands. There's a fair bit in that article to digest. - Well written and researched too. (Was unaware of Lech Blaine until now). I've also got a bit of catching up to do....plenty of Go Betweens / Robert Forster stuff to explore.

thanks for the heads-up Stu, that was a good read. It has just inspired another dig into the Go-Betweens' catalogue. Always good.

Great piece by Lech Blaine, he nails it again and again.
"They were too sloppy to be pop stars, and too feminine to be testosterone-fuelled rock stars. Too Australian overseas, too cosmopolitan for the local market."
But that quirky sound, for me, defined what were bohemian pockets in inner-city Brisbane at the time.
Ramshackle Queenslanders and the shabby workers' cottages of West End and Auchenflower before gentrification moved in.
And if Steve Kilbey says 16 Lovers Lane is one of the greatest albums ever made, who are we to argue.
After all, songs like Clouds and I'm Allright sound like striped sunlight.

An artist worthy of further investigation.

I don’t know about that

A Friday night song on a Sunday evening.

Did someone sputter on about '...isms'?
Alright, time for some discussion on what yr all listening too. My iTunes inventory is getting a little stale so I'm up for some inspiration.
Currently loving The Drones' album "Havilah".. incredible songwriting and some of the best recorded guitars and drum I've heard in a long time. I'm a little late to the party with this album but it's on high rotation at the moment and will probably stay there a while. I've seen these guys live once (Fowlers, Adelaide) and fortunately they're incredible on stage too. Can't wait to see them again.
