Might as well put this up in the politics subforum, to spare the front page. It's 18 months away or so, but here we go.

This is how Dutton wins:

Hey seeds, That's my little gig. Try corrigable ... Capable of being reformed...Aligning with the rebirth of the already broken wave. The dispelled momentum of the bombora maintains its underlying core strength so that when the surfer sits waiting, watching eagerly, poised to hop on in as they unite, synchronised with the right fracture, with the speed and positioning for the reassemble and be slung onto the clean and smooth glittering perfection and surface of a newly reformed and unbroken green wall. Throw a rainbow in there somewhere. To ride this second chance for all manner of wiz turns, left and right turning, arching bottom turns with ultimate speed, and leaning carving cutbacks. Zig-zagging, left and right, left and right. Thing is that to maintain one's position in flight, one must explore the virtues or iniquity of left and right thinking! Is that what you're talking about?

No doubt they’ll make an horrendous decision that will keep them in opposition longer.

If that's the dirt on her, then great, this is the story of most politician's.

To me she is the smart choice especially being a women and said to more moderate which LNP need at this point of time.

Yeah I agree Indo, the public would forgive small time rorting. But she's up against the LNP boys club to get the big gig. When they stabbed Malcolm, they wouldn't give Julie Bishop a look in and she was clearly the best option.

Piss off
I don’t want to agree with you even though I do.
They won’t do it .
This is your chance to wake up that Labor is more politically aligned with your values because they are just right than centre.

Yeah i wouldn't be surprised if they dont either, to much politics within politics that often get in the way of common sense.

I did the ABC vote compass ad while i came in on the left of LNP, i was still right there.

I think after the Shorten loss Labor actually moved back towards the right more back to the centre with far more moderate policy, that loss was unexpected and a wake up call for them.

Then i think the voice loss was a social type of wake up call to move more to the centre again socially, just a conscious toning down of things and avoiding culture war shit

This is why I think a lot of Labor supporters here have been a bit disappointed in Albo's first term.

IMHO Albo and Labor have been smart and read the room.

While LNP havent, Scomo wasn't exactly well liked by women and then they went and picked Dutton who is even perceived worse with women and further to the right.

It's time for LNP to have their wake up call and read the room and move back more to the centre and really focus on getting the women's vote back.

That's not to say i always think LNP should be closer to the centre, there is times when they shouldn't in key areas, it's just depends on the politics and issue's of the time.

For instance right now in Europe and USA they have issue's like illegal immigration and just culture war things that have made right wing parties popular.

But we aren't the USA or Europe and currently dont have the same issues, and even though i have strong views on some of the culture war shit, most people dont like it, i dont think it works to any advantage here is Australia , actually quite the opposite.

That shit can be fought in the USA and Europe and IMHO it is and there is change happening and that change will naturally flow onto Australia.

Two examples is the ruling in UK on what a women is and Trump no men in women's sport policy that even many democrat voters seem to agree with

BTW. On policy I dont think parties should always say black when the other party says white which LNP under Dutton has done, sometimes a party should have a similar policy to the opposing party on something if it makes sense and then it just adjust it slightly for the voter base.

Ive never said that directed at Labor voters, i said that about those on the left to far left that have very naive idealistic type views that many of us had when we were in our late teen's into twenties yet they still hold the same views into their 50s or 60s

Some classic Indo Dreaming quotes from this thread;
26/1/24- "Albo should never have been PM, he was never up to it, he is way out of his depth, he is like our own Biden just younger. "

22/6/24- "What garbage Supa. 5% to 10% of nuclear would compliment renewables and make it much much more realistic to go carbon free by 2050 and in no way would prevent renewables investment or whatever."

24/6/24- "End of the day people vote for the party that they are doing best under and thats the beauty of democracy."

11/6/24 "Interesting i guess he" (albo).. " is trying not to lose the muslim arab vote and just the antisemtic far left vote in general, i think he has anyway though."

28/12/24- "The reality is Gina is far more successful, richer, smarter and a better business person than any of us, and contributed far more than any of us every will or have to Australia financially/ economically."

16/2/25- "YouGov poll shows Peter Dutton in position to be next PM | ABC NEWS"

19/2/25- "Australia is right wing because we aren't a failed communist or socialist country."

6/3/25- "An update (from above 17th Feb odds)

LNP: $1,50
Labor: $2,62
Other: $81,00
Im surprised i thought maybe the latest interest rate cut might have helped Labor but seems not, maybe the possibility of sending troops to Ukraine evened thing's out."

10/4/25 (on Jacinta Price) - "Odds are she will probably never get a shot at the top even if she wants because well very few in politics do, but let's puts some perspective on things she is 43 Albo is 62, she has plenty of time if that's her goal, and she is already a far better public speaker than both Dutton and Albo (who is a very poor public speaker especially under pressure which is a real weakness fir a PM) "

Hahahahahahaha..... Hahahahahahahaha.
I'll give you one thing Indo, Your gut was right on the libs rolling out Nuclear as an election strategy. But it still blows my mind how you defended it. It was conservatives like you arguing for nuclear in online chats that kept the coalition thinking they were on a winner.
So, from many, I thank you, and many like you, for pushing the pros of nuclear for the past year, and guaranteeing the LNP at least a decade in the federal wilderness.

OK a slight deviation of thread

https://www.realestate.com.au/news/explainer-how-labors-housing-plan-wil...

an interesting read, it seems we will most immediately have demand strengthened (when already 500K houses short) but for my 2c they have a plan and will eventually increase supply. Reading between the lines of the last two stanzas implies something I feel is quite dramatic (will leave it to you to suss out)

and

https://www.macrobusiness.com.au/2025/05/another-extend-and-pretend-mort...

here we have juicing of demand from another quarter, with lending standards being lessened over and above those in article above. Not to mention moral hazard of these kind of loans 'for the term of his natural life'. But those kind of concerns are a bit wimpy, to infinity and beyond!

So futurecasting, I'm off in the future some years so you may not understand this immediately and that's OK; cannot say exactly when, but this clip has booked a date with destiny, Aussie subprime style:
