The weekend started off fun, but Sunday was the day to surf with a strong new SW groundswell under moderate onshore winds. The swell was strong enough to remain straight even with the onshore winds before S/SE sea breezes did more damage into the afternoon.

What an excellent start to autumn! A strong and powerful SW groundswell filled in overnight Friday and peaked Saturday morning to a large 6-8ft+ in the South West, 2-3ft around Perth and 4-5ft+ up in Gero under morning offshores.

The tune of the weekend was to onshore winds, with an easing swell from late last week on Saturday and then a strong increase in long-range SW groundswell through Sunday. Sunday morning started off a little slow but the swell kicked strongly into the afternoon although S'ly winds left only a couple of options for savvy surfers.
