There's a strong swell on the build but conditions are bumpy and will remain so through it's peak. Cleaner smaller waves are due through the period.

E’ly swell trains should bump up a notch during Wed and into Thurs as Tradewinds strengthen a notch around a weak trough/Easterly dip SW of New Caledonia early next week. Even though this is a downgrade from the retrograding low we saw on Wednesday’s model runs it should still supply some fun mid period E’ly swell in the 3ft range during this period.
Strong high pressure moves E to be well south of the Bight by mid next week. An intrusion of cold air is expected to form an upper cold pool, leading to instability and the development of a surface low as the upper trough interacts with the Tasman trough, later Thurs or Fri. There’s a possibility this low may be an ECL or have characteristics similar to one, potentially including severe weather.
The current swell will continue to ease into the weekend, while there's fun pulses of new energy for next week as winds strengthen bringing in hot weather.
There's a strong new swell in the water and it'll be worth making the most of as we'll be looking at a poor period of surf into next week besides Monday.
The coming period looks mostly onshore but there are a couple of windows of clean conditions and good pulses of swell.
Better options are ahead early next week as a new high pressure system quickly migrates through the Tasman Sea towards New Zealand and a N’ly fetch develops off the South Coast and down to Bass Strait.
High pressure is now drifting over New Zealand with multiple trough areas through the Tasman Sea, interior, and extending along the East Coast from the tropics down to temperate NSW. This is creating a moist, variable, onshore flow through the region with small surf.
There are a couple of fun swells on the way but winds are now tricky to work with and not ideal.
