We've got a fun swell for tomorrow with workable winds, cleaner Wednesday while the swell for late in the week has been downgraded and delayed a little.

This week is looking much more like a classic spring pattern. The ingredients are weak, mobile high pressure at sub-tropical latitudes and a series of troughs and weaker fronts tied a complex area of low pressure in the Southern Tasman and near Southern Ocean.

We'll see a rapid improvement in conditions tomorrow as a high slides in following today's front, with another fun day near the end of the week.

        Rare SE swell incoming

A slow moving low with multiple embedded troughs will produce a long live SE swell through the coming period.

An inland low and offshore trough are generating a mix of NE winds and more proximate E’ly winds both in the Eastern Tas swell window. Onshore winds have been associated with the approaching low.

Windows of clean conditions on the weekend with another unstable Spring pattern next week

Nonetheless, there’s a nicely aimed fetch of ENE/NE strong winds located in the Northern Tasman sea into sub-tropical latitudes and a more distant tradewind fetch out near New Caledonia.

Nowhere to recommend this weekend with poor conditions, better into next week but mostly north of Margs. There's a large swell due late week.

Plenty of clean surf from the ENE/NE this weekend, before another unstable pattern next week

A trough and inland low located over Victoria is now in the process of moving offshore, shunting the N’ly winds further East and bringing a regime of more variable, tending W’ly winds.
