Eastern Tasmania Surf Forecast by Craig Brokensha (issued Monday 12th June)

Best Days: Wednesday south magnets, similar Thursday and early Friday with a SE swell

Recap

Small clean and inconsistent waves over the weekend with a mix of S/SE and NE swells coming in at 2ft.

This morning the surf was back to the tiny stuff but nice and clean.

This week and weekend (June 13 - 18)

A strengthening front that's currently south of us looks like it will take a slightly better track through our southern swell window this evening, with a fetch of gale to severe-gale W/SW winds due to be projected north-east towards New Zealand.

Some small S'ly groundswell should spread out radially towards us, building overnight tomorrow and peaking Wednesday to 2ft at south magnets. Everywhere else will be flat. Conditions look good for these locations though with a persistent W/NW offshore all day.

The S'ly swell will fade Thursday, but some inconsistent SE groundswell is due from a broad stationary fetch of SE winds on the polar shelf, south of New Zealand. Satellite observations have picked up gale to storm-force winds and with this we're due to see some fun sets across magnets, filling in Thursday to an inconsistent 2-3ft before easing slowly from 2ft+ Friday.

Conditions look to remain great with W/NW offshores Thursday through Saturday.

Longer term a strong cold-outbreak Sunday looks to bring with it some solid S'ly and then SE swell as a low stalls in the Tasman Sea, but more on this Wednesday.
