Southeast Queensland is warming the engines for a long run of east swell. Forerunners began stirring the sand yesterday, however it wasn't till this morning that the energy coalesced into long lines.

And while it's not yet running on Avgas, the swell has a ways to run with many fluctuations still to come. Pace yourself, people.

Mick best on ground as always. Bank still looks shit though, very short waves for this size and these conditions

Nice example of including the whole break in the clip. As someone who has never surfed it - it's pretty eye opening seeing it in action.

I get that most clips want to obscure the location and focus tight on the wave.

Pulled back shots are great and way underused. Slow motion is way overused.

Photographers seem stuck in their own little bubble sometimes focusing on their peer approval.

Is it actually worth paddling out there for a wave?

What's the strike rate per hour say?

No

Average punter 1-2 waves +/- being dropped in on for both

I think I got 3 per hour, had a couple of people drop in on all waves, surfed like a kook so probably couldn’t expect much more. The average for set waves was 4 surfers per wave. Despite all that I had very low expectations and had been out of the water with a bad back for 5 months and I enjoyed myself. If I just had a bit of paddle fitness I would have snagged a couple of gems as there were a lot of people out there without much of a clue

how good is the line in that song "my body is a temple, on the weekends it's a warehouse", awesome bumper sticker lyricism.
