It's not the first time Gabs has dropped a clip of freesurfing around home, though it's still a rare item. Much of it is filmed on the 'beautiful island' near Gabs' hometown plus one or two sessions at another island far to the north.

Short waves, thick wedges, deep barrels.

wow I've never really enjoyed watching gabs. He always seems a bit too precise and lacking spontaneity. Looose as a goose here and having fun, probably his old man is miles away! Funky soundtrack too. Still a bit of a tool tho. This clip made me smile so perhaps I'm being harsh.

He's allowed to not wear a leggie. Plus he doesn't have far to go when he loses his board as he is pretty much on dry sand. Next level skill. Unbelievable surfing. Good to watch

Some footage from Pauba. It only fires with larger swells and produces these insane barrels... pretty much on the sand. Interesting fact: in Nov 1991 Taiu Bueno, the most prominent Brazilian big rider at that time, had a C4 injury surfing at this same spot. He was left quadriplegic - sad story for someone used to Hawaiian caliber waves. However, he still lives a fruitful life for the surf and his community. That same swell awarded Nicky Wood a title in Brazil!!
