Watch: Mayday at D'bah
Aside from a few strokes from Gretel and Uesi it's been a quiet cyclone season up in Queensland.
Even a comparatively quiet trade swell season if we're to really put it under the microscope.
Yet there has been the occasional unheralded day on the points and beaches, and yesterday was one example. A mix of long period south swell and straight east swell, plus light southwest winds and sunny skies, saw D'bah in fine form.
In the water is Coby Perkovich, Matt Aldridge, Dexter Muskens, Dave Vlug, Hinata Aizawa, Benny Howard, Reef Doig, and others, and they're joined midway by Steph looking resplendent in full length lilac.

Something really fun about just seeing a local crew get into it. The wave at 3:12....I could feel the anticipation sitting at my bloody computer. The kind of wedge you used to draw on your school exercise books....nice.
Something irked me seeing this advertised on facebook and in the short blurb on the front page with no reference to Steph's surfing only what she is wearing?! Geez... surely a bit more respect for the 7 time world champ than reporting on what colour wetty she is wearing!? Or maybe you should have reported that most of the blokes were wearing steamers aswell...

I disagree Don and enjoyed it because you did get to see the normal punters getting some crackers in between the pros.
The general standard of surfing on the Gold Coast is high. Where I’m from it’s the land of the adult learner which is fuckin’ depressing sometimes. Anyway, good to see the average Joe have a punt aye.
