Seaslug. In Victoria, no doubt, looks like a coastal environment, some shots look familiar. AW

Edit. Found this organism on the beach at Edwards Point, St. Leonards over the weekend, I thought of your SWNet moniker.

Hi AW
Surfed a remote beach in Tassie last year and counted a flock of at least 60 before they saw me and scattered.
Also, what's with the idiots/entitled tools who bring their dogs into the MP National Parks and onto the beaches, very delicate nesting habitats

San Guine. Hi mate. That’s a nice flock count. Very enduring little birds, up against pedestrians, fishing type folk, swimmers, dogs, foxes, bogans etc.

So glad you mentioned this. I encounter dogs with owners (some dumber than dog shit) nearly every time I’m in the field.

Im a dog owner myself but he’s never in a place of significance let alone a National Park. My current tactic is, i say its a 10K fine if you’re caught, they soon about face, then i say, i saw a Rangers vehicle only ten minutes ago, they soon bolt. There’s plenty of places for dogs away from NPks. AW

That magpie vid above was awesome, especially the playground and them following her to work.

Had a gannet fly over during a surf a couple of weeks back, magnificent birds they are. I'll always stop to just watch them.

Not sure of this is the right place, but Bruce Usher has posted a few things on FB that were originally intended for White Horses yet never got published. Photos of Mark Rabbidge and quotes too, holding special boards. I guess it was intended for WH's '4 x 4' section.

In today's very good news it looks like NZ will have a new government. Good riddance to the old bunch of incompetent, totalitarian fucksticks, and welcome to the new crew - God knows we need you.

I'm just happy that we may get some competent people in govt.

Sentiments are different in Wellington; 40% voted Greens there, as opposed to 10% nationally. The place is a bubble, and most people there don't realise it.

I remember peak Jacinda madness and Charles Wooley's creepy interview on 60 Minutes.

?feature=shared

NZ gives hope that the people will eventually search for competence.

A very smart female colleague was astounded that I mumbled something negative about her lack of results and extreme lockdown policies. She looked across the ditch at Jacinda as the ultimate modern, empathetic, left leaning, virtuous leader demonstrating the new path to follow to put the patriarchy into the dustbin of history.

Her fall from grace and the election results would do her head in.

The best.
We’ve been heartbroken since losing our old Vizsla in February, and it was only getting worse. Even though I’d say hello to every single dog I met, I was ready to never get another one. It was that bad.

Along comes this little bear, and the heart starts thawing out.

She’s so lovely and good natured and fun.

Island Bay's picture
Island Bay's picture

Hah, my wife's hairdresser was given a mature Cocker by a friend moving back to the UK, and completely fell in love with it. Every time my wife has her hair cut, the dog is there, and she got very keen on one.

I was super skeptical, wanted another Vizsla then never another dog, but Ms IB was clever enough to introduce me to this little girl (Let's just go for a drive, we can check this dog out if you feel like it...)

I'm a dog sook.

Not a day goes by where I don't think of my two little mates that passed on.

But, we recently got another Schnauzer to pair up with dopey and they're thick as thieves now and enrich our lives in ways I can't explain.

Sorry about your Vizsla, I feel your pain but wish you and Mrs. IB many happy days ahead with Harry.

RTA?

The injured dog I found on the side of the road?

He had a couple of ops that were funded by donations and made a pretty good recovery. As far as I know he was adopted by a family (US Navy bloke) in Yokohama and is living the life he should have lead all along.

We got a second dog earlier in the year another staffy,

Id been keeping an eye on Gumtree and one ad really stood out photos look good (little puppies), great description, price had been reduced from something like $2K to $1.5K i was tempted but left it then about a week latter i was looking again and saw the same ad and there was only two left at $700 each, and one was the one i really liked the look of, so I decided to pull the pin and do it, drove 3 hrs to the place, but the dog was now nothing like the puppy in the pic that was tiny and mellow, but more a half grown dog and as crazy as a cut snake.

Anyway having the kids with me and driving so far I had not choice but to buy it even if not what i was totally expecting, no regrets now though, very much loved.

Also no way is he a pure breed english staffy as the ad said, its definitely American X English mix I did see both parent's they were fairly tall too so i think they were both American X English mixes that hooked up.

Anyway he is going fine, 10 months now and already taller with a bigger head than our 14 year old English staffy.

I guess the lesson here is to ask the birth date or at least look at the date the original ad was posted and not just assume what you see in the pic is what you are going to get :D
