Brother Stuey ...
An LNP star!

Here's "Stuart Robert's litany of transgressions", as of four years ago.
Including "home internet charges" of $62,814 for the previous ten years, despite being located only 15km from Surfers Paradise.

ICAC....
Wonder what would come up in last 4 years????

Who’s the hot favourite to front up first to an ICAC ? morriscum, brother stuey or angus ? I hope they don’t drag things out like publishing the findings of any future ICAC , glady’s findings seems to have just disappeared , maybe they don’t want to spoil her xmas . I actually didn’t mind glady’s , she seemed to get pushed around a bit towards the end of her political career.

I would think Angus Taylor would be no. 1 purely down to the Cayman Island incident and the amount of money involved, maybe he is innocent, but whole thing stinks? Brother Stuey in close second place and then Scomo. Saying that Scotty probably has the rat cunning to have distanced himself from any technical illegal activities and will have others go down for him. Joyce with water deals etc should get a look in as well. Geez who knows, just hope it does happen and it doesn't not turn into a limp lettuce fiasco.
Reckon there are a few in LNP who are concerned!!

A Weasley excuse from Houston. The apple didn’t fall far

Id like to know if Brian Houston did make this statement,
"He said to me this is all your fault ... you tempted my father," what did Houston mean by this ? That a 7 year old seduced his nonce father ?

Dutton.....

Could ABC use 'truth' defence if this went to court??

Interesting clip there andy - mac , albo and labor have achieved a fair bit in their first 6 months. The real test comes now sorting out the gas prices and possibly introducing a tax on super profits from mining just before the next election. If they can pull that off they will be extremely popular in my opinion but many will scream it will scare away foreign investment. I’ve said before if a company is going to make 10 billion a year profit and suddenly get taxed and only make 7 billion profit they are not going to bailout.

Yep they (Labor) seem to be travelling pretty well. LNP pollies kind of look a bit pathetic bringing up and having a go at energy policy ( they had huge success over 9 years :/), and the $275 blah blah. Most of electorate not that stupid to take it seriously. Susan Ley just came across as a nasty piece of work today. If they can start to tax mining companies properly, they will be on a winner I reckon. Times and the situation has changed a lot since Rudd. Reckon concerted advertising campaign by Minerals Council could back fire quite badly for them, people struggling are not going to have too much sympathy for billionaires and foreign companies.
Australians were fooled once, don't think it would happen again.
Anyway that's my 2 cents ...

There’s some sick sick people involved in this “ church “https://www.theguardian.com/australia-news/2022/dec/06/mother-of-man-rap... The mother of the man who was raped as a child by pentecostal preacher Frank Houston “tried to dissuade” her son from publicly revealing the “sordid mess”, a Sydney court has heard.
Another relative – a senior church pastor – told him he would be supported if he kept his complaint within the church but if he went to “the secular courts” he would be abandoned.

Had a good chuckle watching an ABC report on this last night when the reporter said something about a church member asking the victim to keep silent as Houston would be judged by God but in reality is being judged by a proper court of law.

The liar from the shire is not too worried about robodebt , he’s got a more important speaking gig to attend . https://www.hudson.org/former-prime-minister-australia-scott-morrison-hu... https://www.theage.com.au/cbd/scomo-to-give-talk-to-murdoch-s-hudson-haw...

How do those gigs benefit the constituents of Cronulla?

Not from Cronulla, but did he ever do anything for his constituents?

Besides dodging the RC into Robo debt and speaking at the Hudson institute what’s our proclaimed international mastermind been up to ? This is plain scary . Warning : once you have seen this you can’t unsee it
Ok I may need an intervention 🤣 pic.twitter.com/qrW1L7xCes

Just read that article, geez I am lost for words. Nothing could surprise me now re Scotty.

Will be interesting to see how Scotty goes at Royal Commission today. Reckon there will be a lot of 'i don't recall,' 'that was not my responsibility,' ' I wasn't informed,' 'i don't accept the premise of the question or assertion,' and ' I was doing it for Strayla and or God.'

How come Politicians can use “I don’t recall” as a excuse? Don’t think that works for common folk

Looks like things went as expected today , here’s a brief clip of Scotty in action, it resumes today at 2.30
At one point Morrison tried to deflect the question to a program that he knew wasn't even in existence at the time.

The Commissioner had to keep pulling Morrison up for "wandering" away from the question, and then wondered whether he was even listening.#auspol #robodebtRC pic.twitter.com/fzQDjDtzlK

I am watching now, feel like a trap is being laid....
Scotty cannot use his interpretation of events here ..

This is a good summary of what they are after- who removed the advice that this was illegal and the need to legislate the Robodept scheme, from submissions to the government and who influenced or was responsible for that removal- https://www.thesaturdaypaper.com.au/news/politics/2022/12/10/how-bureauc...

From Guardian:
"12.35 AEDT
Albanese government will abolish the administrative appeals tribunal
The attorney general, Mark Dreyfus, has stepped up and he gets straight to the point:
I’m announcing the Albanese government will abolish the administrative appeals tribunal, the AAT, and replace it with an administrative review body that better serves the interest of the Australian community.
The AAT’s public standing has been irreversibly damaged as a result of the actions of the former government over nine years.
By appointing 85 former Liberal MPs, former Liberal staffers and other close Liberal associates without any merit-based selection process, including some individuals with no relevant experience or expertise, the former government fatally compromised the AAT, undermined its independence, and eroded the quality and efficiency of its decision-making.
This was a disgraceful exhibition of cronyism by the Liberal party.
Updated at 13.05 AEDT"
Dutton and co will be spinning.
Taking away the gravy train for ex LNP pollies.

Next should be the Fair Work Commission to get rid of the likes of Ms Mirabella, a very nasty piece of work appointed for life at $400k pa

It was bizarre behaviour all round , from continuously taking his glasses on and off , sometimes reading with them on other times squinting with them off while moving the paper back and forth trying to focus. He’s used to speaking over the top of female reporters and screaming at others in parliament , the ex high court judge and KC had his measure and were actually pretty patient with him . He didn’t fool anyone and I can’t see him lasting much longer before he quits parliament . The sooner ICAC gets up and running the better.

I watched most of it live and he really was out of his depth and could not bullshit his way out of what he was responsible for. If only the media had held him and LNP to account earlier with Robodebt. It was well known it was having tragic circumstances but they continued with it with full knowledge it was causing people to kill themselves. Let that sink in, it was a program of deliberate cruelty disguised as protecting tax payers dollars from dole bludgers.

Be nice if those clowns that perpetuate the myth that suicide rates went up in Aus because of lockdowns were as vocal about the deaths directly related to robodebt.

Not as trendy.
Less social kudos.

Actually the situation of suicide rates during covid and/or due to lockdowns is more complicated than simple statements like “the suicide rate didn’t go up in Australia.”
I remember reading some studies that break down suicide rates into demographic groups, and they provide some interesting insight.
For example I remember reading that teen suicide rates went up, male suicide rates went up, and suicide rates in people who became unemployed also went up and they linked this to unemployment caused by lockdowns.
I think making sweeping simple statements in this regard is seriously disrespectful and dismissive of those who committed suicide during (and because of) covid, and luckily there’s actually educated and qualified people working and doing research in suicide prevention instead of ignorant internet forum simpletons (still) engaging in covid belief system confirmation bias and the (often politically motivated) covid information and ideology wars..

Suicide for Australian males in 2020 was the lowest since 2016, but tell us more about what you "remember reading".
The "I can't believe it's not politics" thread.
