Recap

Yesterday saw easing levels of windswell with peaky conditions under a light offshore wind. Into the afternoon the swell increased a bit more with today seeing a further increase in S/SW swell.

Early sets were lumpy and to 2-3ft but now we’re seeing 3ft+ waves with favourable winds for more protected spots.

This weekend and next week (May 31 - Jun 6)

The weekend looks great for surf, with our stronger S/SW groundswell for overnight and early tomorrow on track, generated by a great fetch of gale to severe-gale W/SW-SW winds firing up south-west of us through yesterday afternoon/evening.

This should provide 4ft sets, easing through the day while a secondary weaker front to our south-west today, generating strong W/SW winds should maintain 2-3ft sets into Sunday morning, easing with tiny, fading surf Monday.

Local winds look great tomorrow and N/NW tending variable with N/NW-N tending variable winds on Sunday.

While Monday will be tiny, some new S/SW swell is due Tuesday/Wednesday, generated by a late forming low south-southwest of us on Sunday.

A tight and short-lived burst of strong to gale-force W/SW winds should kick up 2ft+ of swell for Tuesday, with a secondary, weak front moving up and into Tuesday, bringing 2-3ft of local swell Wednesday.

Winds on Tuesday and Wednesday look generally W/SW though the mornings should reveal W/NW breezes. On Thursday we should see cleaner conditions but easing surf from 2ft.

Longer term the outlook is slow until later next weekend but more so the following week. The next run of swell looks more west and not ideal, but more on this Monday. Have a great weekend!
