Recap

Average conditions and small surf yesterday with onshore winds, while today's better swell has filled in with 2ft+ sets on the coast under a light though workable onshore wind that has now freshened.

This weekend and next week (Jan 6 - 12)

The weekend ahead will see small levels of background swell maintaining inconsistent 1-2ft surf across Clifton both Saturday and Sunday. It'll be a little pulsey with periods of more consistent surf padded out by quieter periods.

Conditions will be great tomorrow with a N'ly offshore before gusty S/SE sea breezes kick in, moderate N/NE tending strong E/NE on Sunday.

Later in the day Sunday, some better mid-period SW swell is expected, with a peak due Monday morning.

The source is a good fetch of strong W/NW winds that are currently south-southwest of Western Australia, with it kicking to 2ft+ on Monday but unfortunately a trough bringing an evening S/SW change Sunday looks to leave strengthening S tending S/SE winds into Monday.

This will spoil conditions and kick up some local windswell, with strong S/SE tending S/SW winds due on Tuesday as the trough forms a low which then pushes back west.

Winds should swing back W/NW on Wednesday morning with a mix of easing SE windswell and background SW energy to 1ft to possibly 2ft, we'll confirm this Monday.

Longer term, some fun W/SW swell is on the cards for later in the week and next weekend but we'll have a closer look at this after the weekend. Have a great weekend!
