South Australian Forecast (issued Friday 26th February)

Best Days: Saturday through Tuesday morning down South, Mid Coast Saturday morning

Recap

Tiny start to the Mid yesterday but an afternoon kick to the 1-1.5ft range was seen with the incoming tide. The South Coast was fun and around 2-3ft again with light winds from the west, favouring protected spots.

This morning a good new SW groundswell is on the build, with 1-1.5ft waves on the Mid, due to reach 2ft this afternoon but with onshore winds, while the South Coast was a good clean 3ft and should kick further but with an onshore change.

This weekend (Feb 27 - 28)

South Coast: Today's strong building SW groundswell should peak overnight, and the reinforcing pulse for tomorrow has been downgraded a touch with the secondary fetch of W/SW gales generating not expected to be as strong.

We'll likely see the swell drop back from 3-4ft+ at Middleton and 5-6ft at Waits and Parsons, down further from 3ft and 4-5ft respectively Sunday morning.

Conditions are looking better though, with only a light to moderate S'ly breeze due both tomorrow and Sunday, possibly even variable at times, creating fun waves at Middleton.

Mid Coast: With the drop in intensity of the front generating tomorrow's reinforcing SW swell, we're expected to now see this afternoon's kick in swell to 2ft, easing from 1-2ft tomorrow morning with clean conditions, down from 1ft Sunday.

Next week onwards (Feb 29 onwards)

South Coast: Our new S/SW swell for Monday has also been downgraded a little, with the intense polar low that was linked to it, now only due to be a healthy fetch of pre-frontal W/NW gales.

We're now expected to see Middleton to pulse back to 3ft Monday morning with 4ft+ waves at Waits and Parsons before easing through the day and further down Tuesday from 2ft and 3ft+ respectively Tuesday morning.

Light E/NE winds Monday morning should create workable conditions with better straight offshore N'ly winds Tuesday but that smaller surf.

Longer term there's nothing too major on the cards for the end of the week as well as generally average winds until Friday, but more on this Monday.

Mid Coast: Monday's swell will be a little too south for the Mid and only offer 0.5-1ft sets for beginners. A better W/SW swell may be seen later Wednesday and Thursday from a weakening front pushing up and under WA to 1-1.5ft but check back here Monday for more on this. Have a great weekend!
