Recap

A solid kick in S/SW swell was seen yesterday across the South Coast, and winds were light enough from the E/NE tending N/NE through the morning to create improving and workable conditions before S/SE sea breezes kicked in just after midday.

Today lighter and variable winds created cleaner conditions down South with an easing but still good S/SW swell to 3ft at Middleton with bigger sets at Waits and Parsons. The Mid was tiny to flat but nice and clean.

This week and weekend (Oct 29 – Nov 1)

South Coast: The end of the week is now looking better with variable winds each morning expected to continue tomorrow and Friday.

Tomorrow morning will start a little slow and around 2ft at Middleton, but a new S/SW groundswell should kick through the morning offering better 2-3ft sets with 3-4ft waves at Waits and Parsons. Afternoon S'ly winds will create average conditions though as the swell becomes stronger.

The swell should hold well into Friday morning with those variable winds and good conditions again before a shallow SW'ly develops into the afternoon.

Come the weekend variable winds will again be seen Saturday morning but with small waves ahead of an inconsistent SW groundswell pulse into the afternoon.

This has been generated in our far swell window to the south-west of WA, hence the inconsistency but good sets to 2-3ft at Middleton through the late afternoon with 3-4ft waves at Waits and Parsons. Winds will go onshore from the SW though, while Sunday should see the swell easing with an early W'ly breeze, tending SW later.

Mid Coast: The Mid is expected to remain tiny to flat through the end of the week and weekend, with better swimming and fishing options.

Next week onwards (Nov 2 onwards)

South Coast: A funky SW groundswell is due to fill in Monday afternoon, with a secondary S'ly groundswell pulse Tuesday, generated by a strong but really poor tracking low forming under WA on Friday.

This low will track south-east, perpendicular to our swell window while producing a fetch of strong to gale-force S/SW winds.

I think the models are overcooking the size expected off this system, especially later Monday with maybe 2-3ft sets due at Middleton and 3-4ft waves at Waits but with strong SE winds.

The swell should ease Tuesday but an afternoon kick in S'ly swell is due from a stronger and better aligned fetch of storm-force S/SW winds south-southwest of Tassie Sunday.

This should produce 3ft+ waves across most breaks, before easing through Wednesday.

Winds Tuesday may tend more E/NE, but Wednesday looks better with NE offshores as the swell eases.

Mid Coast: A slight kick in size is due Monday afternoon from the new SW swell to 1ft+, but this swell will quickly fade Tuesday from 1ft and then become flat Wednesday.
