South Australian Forecast (issued Wednesday 27th July)

Best Days: Thursday and Friday morning both coasts (South into afternoon), Saturday and Sunday down South

Recap

The Mid Coast backed off to a tiny 1ft yesterday with morning offshores, while the South Coast saw clean peaky waves suited to Goolwa and Parsons with N/NE winds holding into the early afternoon.

Today the swell has bottomed out across both coasts with small clean 1-2ft waves down South and 0.5-1ft sets on the Mid. A new and late pulse of W/SW groundswell due this evening may not really push right until dark, as the Cape du Couedic buoy hasn't shown any major uptick in size yet. With a travel time of 3.5-4 hours the swell probably won't show until on or just after dark.

This week and weekend (Aug 28 - 31)

There's been no real change to the strong W/SW groundswell due tomorrow, with the Mid Coast expected to pick up inconsistent 2ft to occasionally 3ft sets while Middleton should come in at 4-5ft, with 5ft+ sets at Waits and Parsons.

Winds look great for both coasts with a light NE tending variable breeze on the Mid and N'ly tending variable breezes down South.

The swell will ease away steadily on Friday from an inconsistent 1-2ft on the Mid and 2-3ft at Middleton with 3-5ft sets at Waits early. Conditions should remain good with N'ly tending variable winds down South and N/NE tending variable winds on the Mid.

There's nothing major on the cards for the weekend but background levels of W/SW groundswell and persistent offshore winds should keep exposed coasts clean. Waits should offer inconsistent 3ft sets all weekend, while Middleton will be in the smaller 2ft range.

Next week onwards (Sep 1 onwards)

There's nothing major on the cards for next week unfortunately and winds will go funky with a passing cold front with early W'ly tending fresh SW winds Monday and then E-SE winds through the rest of the week. A small to moderate spike in swell is due Wednesday but more on this Friday.

Just an update, the buoy has since picked up and new 2ft lines are showing on the Mid. Looking great tomorrow!
