The first proper stormy in a long time will impact the gulf on Monday.
Primary tabs
The surf will be best over the coming days ahead of a large, stormy cold outbreak early next week (and much needed soaking).
A sizey westerly swell will be followed by a stronger south-west groundswell with great winds for the South Coast.
At best, we have a brief window of light winds early Saturday morning, and this will be the only window of opportunity to surf down south.
Friday’s swell increase will start off undersized, with the biggest waves expected at the end of the day.
The peak of this swell cycle is expected on Saturday morning, however it will have been generated by the latter stages of the Southern Ocean progression as it rears up under the state.
On the Mid Coast, this new reinforcing swell will have too much south in its direction and therefore won’t really get into the gulf.
Fortunately, high pressure will move in and rapidly ease local winds, so apart from some lingering lumpiness, we should see rapidly improving conditions across all coasts (more quickly on the Mid than down south, mind).
We’ve got some super fun waves coming up over the coming days.
The South Coast will generally be the pick next week with the Mid Coast coming in wind affected.
