Rip Curl GromSearch Lakey Peak
Mick Curley
Wednesday, 13 April 2011
In the final heat Armansyah Baharudin, ten years old from Hu'u, out-surfed all the others in the under-14 division and was rewarded with a custom surfboard, a load of prizes and the title of the best grom under-14 of Sumbawa.
The under-16 final was a hard battle between Usman, who won last year's GromSearch in Sumbawa, Yasin, Mansur and 12 year-old Andre. In the end Yasin won the title of the best under-16 grom in Sumbawa and the trip to Bali to compete at this year's GromSearch final held in Kuta beach in October during Rip Curl's Surf and Music Festival.

The Swellnet Flyer - Issue 3
Various
Tuesday, 5 April 2011
Tags: In this issue we turn up the volume on Gold Coast Hi-Fi, roll out the bullion on a Golden Autumn Swell and feature South Australian photographer, Shane Smith, licking the cream from his digital crop.
Taste test these fine samples, and remember there's 34 more pages inside.
A Front Row Seat
Teena Nienaber
Thursday, 31 March 2011
Helicopter shots, underwater shots, split-screen shots: surfing is being photographed and captured in various ways these days. The quest for originality is encouraging photographers to seek new angles.
But then, as a surfer, sometimes all I wanna see on screen is what I see during a session: a committed bottom turn viewed from point blank or enjoying front row seating as a surfer gets pitted.
That is the stuff that gets me pumped, and Teena Nienaber nails it here.//STUART NETTLE

Tags: It doesn't take much to highlight the best qualities of a swell these days; a couple of well positioned frames can easily sum up an entire day of surfing.

As the NSW Liberals marched into power and Barry O'Farrell stood on the podium as our new premier, Russ Molony and Wanga Wayne pulled into a couple of Fatty O'Barrells to celebrate the victory.

The afternoon before these shots were taken, the World Champ had a surprise session here, however there are no shots of that devon-headed spotlight-stealer in this gallery.
One Of Those Days Pt. 1

Tags: Sydney is the sort of place that hardly ever gets perfect waves. Long stretches of time, with waves measuring in quality from good to grim, are endured by the sizeable surfing population in the hope that someday soon it'll get perfect again.

He's healthy now, the odds are improving and he's using sympathy votes to claim set waves at the Island and other Cronulla reefs.

Tags: Surf photography's a hard gig. Anyone with a handful of bucks can order a fancy camera online, and stand at the beach snapping off eight frames per second as the local talent attempts to get vertical. Thus resulting in gigabytes of half-turns and bogged rails.
